With theBaten Kaitosgames trapped on theGameCubeand second-hand game prices rising out of control, RPG fans have been wanting to see the original games get a new lease on life. Now, nearly two decades after the originalBaten Kaitosgame launched on the Nintendo GameCube, the RPG classics are making a comeback on the Switch.

Bandai Namco recently released a new trailer confirming the September 14 release date forBaten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remaster,a remastered collection of the twoBaten Kaitosgamesthat is set to release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Those that fondly remember the originalBaten Kaitosgames should find a lot to like about the remastered collection, especially since the games are coming with a number of important quality-of-life features that will help the games better live up to modern standards.
Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 HD Remasterwill let players turn encounters off and skip cutscenes, plus they have the option to enable auto battles and autosaves as well. Auto battles will be ideal for those that mainly want to play the games to experience their stories and don’t care so much about engaging with their card-based battle system. With that in mind, players will also be given the freedom to significantly increase battle speed and even switch on a setting that lets them win a fight with a single hit. Those that would rather play the traditional way will have that option as well, of course, but these quality of life features will no doubt be appreciated.
While fans will appreciate these new features in theBaten Kaitosremasters, many aren’t happy about thelack of English voice actingin the collection. While the voice acting in the originalBaten Kaitosgame was widely criticized at the time of its release, many agreed that the voice acting in the sequel was much better. It’s unfortunate that fans don’t even have the option to switch on English voice acting for the collection, but others will just be happy that the games are finally making their way to a modern platform.
