Ahsokahas been steeped heavily in callbacks and easter eggs, including hints spotted by fans that could allude toSam Witwer’s return as Starkiller. One such little treat that fans might have missed is the Home One, the starship in which Ahsoka meets with General Hera Syndulla. While many paid it no mind, this is the same ship that Admiral Ackbar captained in the originalStar WarsTrilogy, with it featuring prominently inReturn of the Jedi. The vessel is also the site of the Captain’s famous line, “It’s a trap!” which became one of the most popular memes within and outside the fandom several decades after it originally premiered.
In addition to being a fun way to pay homage to the originalStar Warstrilogy, using Home One as a backdrop for the meeting between Ahsoka and the Genera gave the scene some of the same ambiance it did in the original, leading to one of the most appropriately set atmospheres in a series that had a lot to work with and limited time to do it. TheAhsoka’s first two episodes have been a solid introduction to the world, with a loving dose of nostalgic recreations from the animated series and aheartfelt dedication to the late star Ray Stevenson, who made his last appearance on the show.
While the inclusion of such an iconic location might be appreciated by some, for others, it serves as more confirmation thatStar Wars: Ahsokamight not be welcomingto new fans after all, despite promises made by Dawson before the show’s debut. Just how much newcomers to the franchise can enjoy the show and follow along without being discouraged by these additions is still up in the air.
Ahsokais now available for streaming on Disney Plus.
