Attend To The Customers

After the opening cutscene ends, you will be able to control Rose and explore the Diner. All the doors are locked at the moment, so proceed forward to where all the customers are. Your first task as Rose will be to get the coffee pot from the counter and give everyone coffee refills. This is a simple task, as whoever wants a refill will have a marker on them, allowing you to approach them. Once this is done, you may put the coffee pot back and collect the dirty dishes from the tables. Some customers at the tables might ask for relationship advice, which you can give them if you want. After collecting the dishes, head to the kitchen window and place them there.

One of the customers will call you over and ask you to recommend a book. Rose will tell them to wait while she brings Alan Wake’s novel from storage. In the Storage room, you may interact with Rose’s fan mail. Once you’re done with everything, the fish plaque on the wall will start talking, and Rose will realize it is Alan asking for your help. Head to the back room located in the kitchen to gather your accessories, which are weapons, such as the Shotgun and the Rifle.

As soon as you come out of the kitchen, everyone will applaud you and tell you to go through the boatyard. Make your way to the wooden door at the end, which should be past the motel.

Meeting Alan’s Brother

Through the wooden door, you canapproach Mr. Scratch, also known as the Bad Boy. He tells Rose that he is Alan’s twin brother and that he plans to stop Alan from writing his book. After the conversation ends, a group of Taken will appear. Your objective will be to follow the Bad Boy’s trail.

Throughout this Episode, you have more than enough bullets, so you don’t have to worry about running low on ammunition. There are quite a lot of enemies, so attempt to take them out to the best of your ability. Soon, a heavy Taken will break the fence, allowing you to follow the trail into the woods.

Fighting all the enemies is not compulsory, so you may ignore them if you want.

There are resupply boxes attached to trees all over the woods, which give health and ammunition if you ever need it.

Taking the Shotgun in Alan Wake 2: Night Springs

Keep following the path, and soon you will reach the beach. Just before reaching the beach, there is a small path on your right, which has a message from Alan for Rose sitting on top of a tree stump. On the beach, you can find the Bad Boy’s motorcycle and a Cabin atop the staircase, where Alan Wake is supposedly trapped. As you search the Cabin, Rose will realize that the voices are not Alan’s, but the Bad Boy’s. Head upstairs through the door to find an empty room with some notes. Go down and towards the beach to talk to the Bad Boy. After the conversation, anothergroup of Takenwill spawn, and you will have to follow the trail again. This will lead you to a cutscene with a Deer who is Alan, which motivates Rose further.

Head up the path and towards the mansion, where you’ll find the Bad Boy again. This time, the conversation will not go pleasantly.

The Bad Boy in Alan Wake 2: Night Springs

The Bad Boy will take it upon himself to stop Rose from saving Alan. There are several boxes with ammunition; however, you will not need it as the game provides you with a lot. The weapons you own can notbe upgradedlike they could in the base game. The boss has a few attacks, and they can deal quite a bit of damage if you take them head-on. The first attack is the distortion wave, which can be easily avoided by dodging to any side. For his other attack, the Bad Boy will summon heart-shaped orbs that act as homing projectiles and have a huge area of damage. Dodging them before they explode can lead to them exploding in your face, so keep moving and time your dodges.

After taking decent damage, the Bad Boy will switch to Wolf form, in which he runs around the area and leaps at you from afar. The dodge timing on this attack is easier, as you can dodge as soon as the leap goes off.

Fighting Taken in Alan Wake 2: Night Springs

Soon, the Bad Boy will convert his motorcycle into a wolf as well. The second wolf has the same attacks as the main boss, but has a smaller health pool. A few shots with the Shotgun should take care of the motorcycle wolf and allow you to focus on the Bad Boy again. With enough determination, you should be able to best him in no time, and he will fall to the ground near the staircase. Talk to him to start the final section of this Episode.

Clearing Out the Mansion

After the conversation with the Bad Boy, head inside the mansion and take everything you’re able to find. There are a few powerful Taken on the first floor; be sure to keep your distance from their wide-sweep attacks. Upon reaching the top floor, you can interact with the metal door with the spiral symbol, which should start the cutscene. With this, you will have successfully completed Episode 1of Night Springs.
