The Evil Within 2continues the story of Sebastian Castellanos, a man still haunted bythe events of the previous game. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse for the grizzled detective in the sequel. Once again plugged into the STEM, Sebastian must fight his way through the crazed denizens of Union to rescue his daughter.

How does Sebastian meet these threats? A varied collection of firearms stands ready at his disposal, although not every weapon is made equally. The right firearm utilized at the correct time can make certain encounters much easier. Of course, every weapon has its uses, but it’s worth pointing out exactly which ones are more helpful than others.
15Semi-Automatic Handgun
It should come as no surprise to survival horror enthusiasts that Sebastian’s first real weapon is a standard handgun. Without any sort of upgrades, it’s a pretty average weapon, suitable for the game’s early stages. Prioritize headshots whenever possible to put down enemies quickly.
Sebastian automatically obtains this weapon at the start of Chapter 2. As the game’s first standard weapon, it’s impossible to miss.

14Silenced Handgun
Yet another type of handgun, the silenced version is perfect for players who love utilizing stealth. Although it won’t blow awayhuge groups of enemiesat a time, it’s useful for distracting enemies from a pack. Thus, the Silenced Handgun is great for incorporating strategy and tactics into a fight.
To obtain the Silenced Handgun, the player must complete the “Getting Back Online” side mission in Chapter 7. Once finished, it can be found inside an orange container at Sykes’s safehouse.

13Assault Rifle
The Assault Rifle can be a powerful weapon for Sebastian when used in a pinch. Groups of enemies can be filled with holes in no time at all. The downside is that it chews through ammo rather quickly. Players with itchy trigger fingers need to be conservative with ammo or else very diligent in collecting it.

Players need to wait to get their hands on the Assault Rifle. At the earliest, it can be obtained in Chapter 13 at The Marrows: Facilities.
12Flamethrower
Wielding a flamethrower is almost always a cool experience in video games. Sebastian can make use of one inThe Evil Within 2if he decides to repair it. It’s a very powerful weapon, setting enemies ablaze with ease. However, Sebastian becomes quite slow when it’s equipped, so be prepared to take a hit in terms of mobility.
The Flamethrower can be found in Chapter 11 after defeating the Harbinger. To repair it, the player needs to defeat two additional Harbingers to obtain the necessary parts.

11Burst Handgun
The Burst Handgun adds a slight variation to Sebastian’s standard weapon. One squeeze of the trigger fires three bullets in rapid succession. When fired accurately at an enemy’s head, the Burst Handgun does admirable damage. Nevertheless, keep an eye on Sebastian’s ammo reserves before firing this weapon too much.
The Burst Handgun was originally a preorder bonus for the game as part of The Last Chance Pack. As such, this weapon may or may not be available to the player at present.

10Warden Crossbow
Sebastian’s arsenal isn’t all about gunpowder weaponry. The Warden Crossbow is one of the player’s mainstays and can be used under a variety of circumstances. Different types of bolts apply to different situations, so it’s always worthwhile for the player to craft a few of each type (i.e. explosive, shock, harpoon, freeze, and smoke).

The Warden Crossbow eventually becomes necessary to progress in the main quest, so Sebastian needs to acquire it sooner or later. Chapter 3 is the earliest, where it can be found in the back of an APC in the Residential Area.
9Sawed-Off Shotgun
The shotgun is typically the player’s best friendwhen it comes to survival horror. The Sawed-Off Shotgun packs a decent punch and its spread makes it possible for multiple enemies to be hit at once. Just get up close and unload!
The Sawed-Off Shotgun is a pretty common weapon, so it’s hard to miss. One location in Chapter 3 is the armory underneath the car repair shop. Once the power is restored, descend into the armory and claim the prize.

8Brass Knuckles
Why fire guns when Sebastian can use his upgraded fists instead? Generally, enemies should be kept at arm’s length inThe Evil Within 2. However, sometimes melee combat can’t be avoided. For that, the Brass Knuckles are extremely handy. Weaker enemies won’t know what hit them. Literally.
Alas, the player needs to be patient to retrieve this item. The Brass Knuckles are an unlockable reward for beating the game on either Nightmare or Classic difficulty. Once that feat has been achieved, the new weapon will be available for the next playthrough.

7Double-Barreled Shotgun
This alternative version of the shotgun does exactly what its name suggests. The Double-Barreled Shotgun fires two shells instead of one, maximizing its damage potential. Expending two shells for every shot is a small price to pay considering the hurt Sebastian can inflict on enemies who get too close.

Obtaining the Double-Barreled Shotgun requires the player to complete “The Last Step” side mission. Afterward, the weapon can be found in The Marrow: Experimental Wing.
6Laser-Sighted Handgun
Handguns tend to be Sebastian’s go-to weapons for most regular enemies. The Laser-Sighted Handgun is an improvement over the basic semi-automatic variant in almost every way. The laser sight gives the player unequaled accuracy for a pistol, allowing for more reliable headshots.
This must-grab item can be found in the Union Auto Repair Shop in the Residential Area during Chapter 3. Look for a corpse lying in the parking lot, next to a car with its headlights on.
