Destiny 2players have discovered a new bug tied to one of the game’s powerful Exotic weapons, the third Exotic bug to be discovered in less than a week. The latest Exotic found to be broken due to a previously undiscovered bug is the Polaris Lance, an Exotic Scout Rifle introduced toDestiny 2with itsWarmindexpansion. The Polaris Lance’s Exotic perk empowers it with an explosive Solar round, or at least it’s intended to. The bug leads to this explosive bullet not going off.

Redditor kristijian1001 brought attention to the bug via a thread on the DestinyTheGame subreddit. According to kritijian1001, they were playing Sundial with thePolaris Lanceequipped and were confused that the explosion didn’t seem to be happening. What they discovered is if they kept firing the gun after shooting the Polaris Lance’s explosive shot, the explosive shot wouldn’t go off. It appears to be canceled by the next bullet in the gun being shot.

Here’s exactly how the Polaris Lance’s Exotic perk is supposed to work. Landing four Precision Shots in a row loads a Solar explosive round into the gun. This part of the perk is working. TheDestiny 2playerthen shoots the explosive round, which is delayed and explodes after a short time. This, mostly, still works, too. The explosive round will still fire and explode so long as the bug isn’t triggered. The bug is triggered when the player continues to fire the gun after the explosive round, canceling the explosion before it’s able to trigger.

The exact details of the bug aren’t entirely clear yet. For example, whether the explosion is canceled by any shot or specifically a precision shot isn’t clear. Bungie has confirmed that it’s investigating the matter, though. “When we have more info, we’ll let you know. Until resolved, you’ll have to wait for the detonation to occur before firing your next shot.” So for the time being,Destiny 2players may be better served using a differentScout Riflethan the Polaris Lance to eke out as much damage as possible.

The Polaris Lance bug is just the latest in a series of bugs affecting Exotic weapons inDestiny 2. Just in the past week, two other Exotic weapons have been found to be bugged. TheTelesto Fusion Rifleis giving players free special ammo and the Wish-Ender Bow is doing triple-damage somehow. At least fans of both of those Exotics are being made to feel stronger than normal. Polaris Lance fans have received no such boon. Expect further details on fixes from Bungie as they’re made available.

Destiny 2is available now on Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
