In a Reddit post highlighting a new hack that has been plaguingApex Legendsmatches for a few weeks now, players asked Respawn Entertainment totake action againstApex Legendshackersto fix this major cheat problem. To prevent cheaters from coming back indefinitely,Apex Legendsplayers want Respawn to give them a hardware ban, a solution already used in multiplayer games such asValorantandCall of Duty. While this solution is not perfect and could still be countered, hardware bans are more effective than traditional bans that players can counter by logging into a different account.
On top of cheaters using multiple hacks at once, such as the infamous aimbot or wallhack, a recentApex Legendshack has cheaters forcing their enemies to infinitely reload, preventing them from performing any action and enjoying the game. SeveralApex Legendsplayers complained about cheatersin the comments of this Reddit post, sharing similar experiences as the one shown in the video. One of them related an issue faced in their latest game, where their entire team was stuck reloading due to a hacker. TheApex Legendscommunity deemed this hack game-breaking, as it not only gave a competitive advantage to the cheater but prevented anyone else from playing.
Despite its popularity,Apex Legendsis apparently struggling to meet developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher EA’s expectations. EA decided to lay off over 200 QA testers with little warning to those affected, whileApex Legends Mobilewill shut downon May 1, one year after its initial release on Android and iOS.Apex Legendsremains one of the most played video games by player count of all time, with a total of over 130 million players in February 2022.
