Apex Legendshas always been a game where storytelling focused on characters. The minute-to-minute gameplay may not really emphasize this, but every character has an entire life they leave behind for the Apex Games, some of which still haunt them. For Catalyst, that’s losing Margo but swearing to protect the moon (withMargo potentially going on to become Big Sister); for Newcastle, it’s the safety of his home and family; for Vantage, that’s her imprisoned mother; and for Bloodhound, that’s a mysterious hunter called Boone.
When playing as Bloodhound, they’ll occasionally reference Boone. It’s easy to miss this story, but for those curious about Bloodhound’s relationship with Boone, it’s pretty straightforward. The long and short of it is that Boone is a former lover of Bloodhound, who also doubles as the reason Bloodhound enters the Apex Games inApex Legends.

Apex Legends: Boone is Why Bloodhound Enters the Games
Bloodhound and Boone bond over the intimacy of the hunt, with the two becoming lovers based on Bloodhound’s poetry dedicated to Boone. Boone is a well-known hunter of the Outlands, who meet Bloodhound when he requested permission to hunt the village’s forests. Bloodhound did not trust Boone at first, but the two would slowly become close during this time. Because of this, Boone would tell Bloodhound his true hunt: a creature known as the Oseour. Bloodhound would develop a way to track it and help Boone find it. However, they found the creature hibernating, which meant for an honorable kill, Bloodhound and Boone would have to wait. This is where the couple split. Boone didn’t care about the honor of the kill, instead capturing it and intending to sell it at theThunderdome inApex Legends.
Boone would capture the beast and quickly leave Bloodhound behind, with Bloodhound following to confront Boone for his actions (and potential heartbreak). However, Bloodhound would be too late, as the Oseour would escape its imprisonment in the Thunderdome and kill Boone. This upset Bloodhound as it meant that Boone would not enter Valhalla, because his death was dishonorable. The two may have split, but it’s very clear thatApex Legends' Bloodhoundstill loved Boone. Because of this, Bloodhound enters the Apex Games to honor Boone’s name and hopefully earn the approval of the All-Father. They hope, by being honorable and successful in the games, Boone may find entrance into Valhalla.
It’s unlikely Bloodhound and Boone’s story gets closure, but Bloodhound’s lore inApex Legendsis perhaps some of the most interesting. This is why Respawn Entertainment often returns to Bloodhound in some form or another, whether that be story bits, prestige skins, and so on. Boone plays a major part of that popularity, as it reinforces many of Bloodhound’s characteristics.Bloodhound and Fuse may be moving ahead with a relationship, but there may always be love for Boone.
