While reception forAssassin’s Creed Valhallahas not been universally positive, many have enjoyed the game. Even horror film directorJohn Carpenter praisedAssassin’s Creed Valhallaon social media.

Where people do have problems, the complaints cover several different aspects ofAssassin’s Creed Valhalla. For some, the story is not particularly inspired. For others, the game drags on too long, or has a bizarre power system. Many of these are subjective preferences, but some problems are technical. Many bugs and glitches have been identified already, and players have submitted reports in bulk. With patch 1.0.4 releasing November 26, Ubisoft is answering many problems, as well as implementing improvements across the board.

Some of the most important problems revolve around save files. The biggest of these centered around aproblem shared byWatch Dogs: Legion: corrupted save files. Several changes were made to the save UI, like labeling cloud saves and adding a notification for when they cannot be retrieved. An issue where load screens did not display saved games properly was also fixed. Unfortunately, no mention is made regarding the corrupted save files themselves.

Quality of life issues are addressed, many regarding to gameplay. For example, fabric is one of the more important resources inAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, and players can now carry 82 instances of it. In addition, fabric has been added as a purchasable good from traders once the settlement hits level six. This will make wandering aroundValhalla’s map looking for places to get fabricsomewhat less of a hassle later on in the game.

Other things addressed include the skill tree, though not to a huge degree. Now, when selecting a center node players want to reach, the fastest path there will be outlined in the skill tree. This should be helpful, since the skill tree is considered by some to be one of theworst aspects ofAssassin’s Creed Valhallain its current state.

There are numerous other changes, many touching on small bugs. The ones addressed regarding the raiding system in particular will be boons to many players. With so many issues cleared up, Ubisoft now has a chance to introduce changes to the game itself. Hopefully it starts withAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’s gear system, which is a bit disappointingin its current state.
