InBaldur’s Gate 3, Disciple Z’rell will stand in your way after you kill or team up with Nightsong. Although you may initially think thatKetheric Thorm is the only difficult enemy, Z’rell is also a worthy opponent who will force you to look for the best winning tactics. The biggest difficulty of this fight is the bad position and the Adepts who can easily crowd-control the party while it is standing in a narrow corridor. However, as with any challenge thatBaldur’s Gate 3presents, there are many ways to make the fight easier, and you will learn about them in this guide.

BG3: How to Get More Allies for the Disciple Zrell Fight

First of all, you may make defeating Disciple Z’rell easier by dealing with her allies:

At the beginning of Act 2, when you enter the Last Light Inn, you will be attacked by the Absolute’s followers who want to kidnap Isobel. She is a Selune cleric and creates a protective barrier around the inn that prevents the curse from entering. Don’t let your opponents lower her health bar to the minimum mark, otherwise, she will be kidnapped and all the Harpers will turn into the undead. If they survive, they will help you fight Disciple Z’rell. Jaheira will survive even if Isobel is kidnapped, so she can join the fight with Z’rell later if asked.

you may find Gnolls on thefirst floor of Moonrise Towers, in the room to the left of the entrance to the throne room. At any time before the final events begin, you can go there and see the follower of Absolute trying to use the tadpole power to teach the Gnolls to obey commands. You can take control of them and then convince them that you are friends. If this happens, you will have 3 Gnolls fighting on your side during the fight with Z’rell.

BG3: How to Beat Disciple Z’rell

As mentioned above, one of the aspects that makes this fight difficult is that your characters will be located in a narrow corridor. Because of this, you will be easy prey for the Adepts who control anddamage them with their AoE spells, so you should kill them first.

Use a spell that can create a noxious cover and position it so that enemies can only approach you by stepping on it. Next, step back to get out of the range of spells and other ranged attacks. This will allow you to keep them at a distance, avoiding dangerous spells and at the same time attacking with the ability to retreat. To deal with archers on beams, you may simply destroy these beams. However, it’s also a good idea to use a character with good athletics to push them down.

You may also have a problem with casting spells because Z’rell hasCounterspell. This problem can be easily solved with Potion of Speed as Z’rell will not be able to use 2 reactions per turn. This potion will also be useful for archers and fighters because it will give a lot of extra damage that will allow you to kill the most dangerous enemies in one turn.
