From Software’s upcomingElden Ringmay be the most anticipated game of the year, especially after a brief gameplay video drew attention at this year’s The Game Awards. It may not be a surprise to hear that demand for theElden RingPremium Collector’s Edition is already sky-high. However, the news that Bandai Namco has had to pause pre-orders for theElden RingPremium Collector’s Edition due to technical issues may catch gamers off-guard.
Elden Ringhas been confirmed to have both a Collector’s Editionand a Premium Collector’s Edition for fans interested in the limited edition versions of the game. TheElden RingPremium Collector’s Edition will contain an official scale replica of a helmet that can be found in the game, a statue, collector’s box, art book, steelbook, and a digital soundtrack alongside a copy ofElden Ring.

Apparently, Bandai Namco decided to relaunch its online store with a new look at the same time as the company opened up pre-orders for theElden RingPremium Collector’s Edition. AsElden Ringrecently won Most Anticipated Gameat The Game Awards 2021, issues began to rise quickly. Fans reported difficulty with the new account creation tools and other users ran into a glitch that wouldn’t let them past the screen that requested they enter their date of birth to continue, which, since passing through the age gate screen was required to access the item page, kept many fans from placing an order.
Bandai Namco announced its awareness of the issues over its verified Twitter account. The first tweet confirmed that the company knew that fans were encountering problems with new account creation and stated its intentions to resolve the issue as soon as possible. However, the second tweet announced that reservations for theElden RingPremium Collector’s Edition would be suspended until the issues were fixed. AsElden Ringhas already won eight awardsbefore it’s even come out and there are a limited number of Premium Collector’s Editions available, this decision may be understandable.
Reportedly, some users did manage to push through the technical issues and secure pre-orders. However, Bandai Namco has since removed listings for the Premium Collector’s Editions from the website altogether. It’s unclear if the successfully placed pre-orders will be canceled or fulfilled. Whatever the case, it’s clear that the upcomingElden Ring’s incredible popularityhas its downsides, both for Bandai Namco and for fans.
