Summary

Dragon Age: Inquisitionwas the third title in theDragon Ageseries and launched back in 2014 to critical acclaim. It is arguably the best game in the series so far, not just because of its advanced graphics and gameplay, but because of itsrich, story-driven contentas well. For a game that faced so many problems during development, it was nice to see Dragon Age: Inquisition serve as a great entry into the series. The fetch quests and weird design choices can be puzzling to wrap one’s head around, but Dragon Age fans loved the many improvements this game made over the second game in the series which split fans down the middle.

Fans are quiteworried after the latest news they received aboutDragon Age: The Veilguard, but many are still hoping that it maintains its predecessor’s standards rather than falling short of expectations as Bioware did withMass Effect: Andromeda. For the time being, players can still get their Thedas fix by replaying this game, and there are plenty ofDragon Age: Inquisitionmodsout there to keep the game feeling fresh if players feel like they’ve seen the bag of tricks this game can whip out too many times.

No More Fog of War

Updated Jun 05, 2025 by Rhenn Taguiam:With Dragon Age: The Veilguard touted as a direct sequel to the events that happened in Dragon Age: Inquisition, fans about to play the recent Dragon Age installment might want to get a quick recap on Inquisition’s events or even replay the entire game to see what role their Inquisitor played in the fate of Thedas before the recent game’s events.

However, players who want to take their Inquisition gameplay to the next level should consider installing specific mods to spice up their playthroughs - especially when these mods enhance the player’s gameplay to make their sessions more memorable. Among must-have mods for Dragon Age: Inquisition include a light overhaul of skills, removing the fog of war, improving banter between foes, and optimizing the war table.

Skills Enhanced

1No More Fog Of War

Reveal The Map

As fans ofDragon Age: Inquisitiongameplayare aware, exploration is a key part of the game especially when trying to scour Thedas for rare items and special interactions. However, players might also eventually realize how exhausting it is to “clear” the game’s fog of war whenever they encounter a new region.

No More Fog of Waris a straightforward mod in this regard - it simply removes the fog of war from maps. This should make navigation much easier for players, especially for those interested in finding locations of interest as soon as possible.

More Banter

2Skills Enhanced

Get More Out Of Skills

The tap-target-heavy nature ofDragon Age: Inquisitionhas often been criticized for feeling too much like an MMO, especially from how this gameplay style is a departure from the game’s more action-packed combat. It’s for this reason that some players might feel that their hits aren’t giving enough “oomph,” and this is whatSkills Enhancedtries to remedy. At its core more of a mod that provides bug fixes and slight modifications, the mod is geared towards optimizing the skill system to become more manageable gameplay mechanics.

Some adjustments to skills from this mod include the effects actually reflecting real DPS values, displaying the correct text and statuses to avoid inconsistencies, combo-detonating certain statuses like Panic, adjusting barrier scaling to avoid unnecessary invulnerability, and more specific changes to ensure classes are more dynamic to play.

3More Banter

Engage More With Allies

Companions have become ahighlight of BioWare RPGs, especially with how their interactions with players often dictate the fate of not just their characters but the whole game at large. As previousDragon Ageentries have exhibited, the depth of character interactions is one of the biggest strengths of the franchise compared to other games - with banter between characters a window into their souls and opportunities for deepening relationships. Unfortunately inDragon Age: Inquisition, banter isn’t encountered as often as players desired - making it quite an annoying thing to wait for as companions can spend hours' on end not talking to each other.

This all changes withMore Banter, a straightforward mod that tweaks the game to ensure banter happens at least within a 15-to-20-minute interval. According to creator Jerrybullet, there’s no way for players to “activate” banters manually, only for modders to find ways to increase the odds of them happening in certain timeframes. Regardless of this slight limitation, players now have more opportunities to get to know their characters.

4War Table - No Waiting

No Waiting Times For Missions

The War Table inDragon Age: Inquisitionremains an integral part of the title’s story and gameplay as this is where players send their agents all around Thedas to unlock new areas and evenparts of the main story. Although the mission timers run independently of the game’s save, players can still find this part of the War Table feature rather gacha in that regard - especially with how mobile games usually use such a mechanic to get players invested in the game.

Thanks toWar Table - No Waiting, players ofDragon Age: Inquisitioncan maximize their time with the War Table. Upon activation, War Table missions now have their required time set to zero. This means all missions are done immediately after activation, giving players more time to focus on assigning which things to do next instead of waiting an exorbitant amount of time for the results. Only the “Truth or Dare: A Dangerous Game” is set with a 1-minute timer to prevent a specific bug from happening.

When people talk about character creators, there’s no denying thatDragon Age: Inquisition’s suite of options is pretty impressive, especially for its era. However, there’s one game that emphasizes variety in the character creator page, and that’sThe Sims 4. There are so many options that players can choose from while designing a Sim that it can boggle the mind, and this extends to the hairstyles in the game.

There’s one modder who has made the painstaking effort of lifting hairstyles fromThe Sims 4and adding them to BioWare’s celebrated RPG in a simple yet belovedDragon Age: Inquisitionmod. Players who want their character to look as unique as possible will love browsing through the wealth of hairstyles in this mod and figuring out the best look for their chosen Inquisitor.

6More Money From Gather Coin

Earn More Money In The Game

For a single-player game, it’s odd thatDragon Age: Inquisitionimplements some mechanics seen in live service and mobile games. The many tasks that the Inquisitor can initiate through the War Table is a great example, with the simple act of gathering coins locked behind a timer that players must bear with. It may balance things out in the long run, but that doesn’t make it any less irritating after clocking many hours into the game.

Therefore, it’s easy to see why aDragon Age: Inquisitionmodthat makes theGather Coinaction more effective and removes the time penalty would be beloved by the fanbase. It’s a simple way to make this action less of a headache and allow players to get a lot of money in no time if they don’t want to deal with the stingy economy of this game, especially since players can only enjoy loaded coffers in the endgame.

7Dialogue Wheel Overhaul

Get A More Intuitive Wheel

If there’s one area whereDragon Agegames can be praisedto the moon and back, it’s the fun dialogue system that players can mess around to influence the games' narratives. Depending on a player’s stats, affiliations, race, and everything else along the same lines, BioWare games let players select unique responses while speaking with numerous NPCs.Dragon Age: Inquisitionis no exception here, and players who want the dialogue system to be as close to perfect as possible will love theDialogue Wheel Overhaul mod.

ThisDragon Age: Inquisitionmodpolishes up the game’s dialogue systems to remove any bugs, rewrites certain excerpts to make the spoken dialogue choice more in line with the chosen action, and adds cut lines that make sense in the event’s context. 8Loot Drop Overhaul

Get More Meaningful Drops

The loot creep inDragon Age: Inquisitionis decently balanced, letting players acquire powerful weapons and armor while also finding crafting materials. However, after a point, some people may feel like they’re not getting adequate rewards for the amount they’re investing in looting chests and killing enemies.

With this mod, the loot drop is skewed in the player’s favor, giving them access to rarer materials. It’s a simple way to incentivize players to explore the game world and gather everything in sight. With this mod, crafting high-value pieces of equipment will be as easy as they come, and players won’t feel like running away from enemies they’ve beaten over and over again.

9Companion Approval

Get To Know Companions Easier

Gaining the approval ofcompanions inDragon Age: Inquisitionis important for players who want to access their quests and explore the wealth of contentInquisitionhas to offer. However, some players may not have the time or patience to ensure that all their companions think positively about the Inquisitor, which can make for a rather frustrating affair.

So, to mitigate this issue, this mod adds an item to the Blacksmith that can be used repeatedly to increase the approval of companions by one point. It may not be the most lore-friendly mod out there, but players who want to ensure that all of their companions inDragon Age: Inquisitionare as loyal as can be will love this small addition to the game.

10Party Banter Tweaks

Get More Dynamic Encounters

Party banter is one of the best things about any BioWare game, with the main character’s companions interacting with each other in meaningful ways that let this group of heroes bond naturally. It helps that these pieces of dialogue are well-written and make their companionship more believable, which is why some people are miffed that these conversations only happen once in a blue moon.

If players want their companions to be more talkative, then theParty Banter Tweaks modis the way to go. It increases the frequency of these organic conversations in the game, making exploration a blast as players get to hear their favorite party members either tease or understand each other. Given how much of the game’s appeal depends upon whether players resonate with the characters or not, it’s easy to see why such a mod would be a boon for most fans.
