Summary
Baldur’s Gate 3is a role-playing game that combines the explorative nature ofDungeons & Dragonswith turn-based strategic combat popular in the CRPG genre. Like most RPGs, the fantasy world of the Sword Coast has a variety of classes for players to try, with their specific weapons in which to specialize.
New weapons can be found while exploring, in chests or other stashes of loot, as rewards for quests, or drops from enemies. However, with so many interesting choices of weapons, such as blades and axes, it’s difficult to decide what is truly the best weapon to equip on either custom or Origin characters.

Updated June 06, 2025 by Kristy Ambrose:Larian Studios won’t be adding any DLC to BG3, nor will there be any sequels from Sven Vicke’s team, but Patch 8 promises to have some substantial additions and is expected to roll out sometime this year.
A few more shiny weapons may be added to the list of additional features that already include new subclasses and dialogue options for certain characters. There’s already an impressive selection of weapons that players can use to customize their characters in BG3, no matter what race, class, or skill combination the player has created.

30Light Of Creation
Dropped by Bernard In The Arcane Tower
Although a simple halberd, theLight of Creationis one ofBG3’s best weapons for those who are still in the first act. It doesn’t come with any impressive features other than allowing the player to hit a foe for an additional 1d6 of lightning damage. However, anyone who isn’t a construct might find themselves stunned when hit by this weapon.
Players may find it difficult to get their hands on this halberd due to having to kill Bernard the construct in the first act ofBaldur’s Gate 3.If given the right answers, Bernard will leave the player be, though the only way to gain that halberd is to kill him.

29Stillmaker
Found Inside The Cave Mouth Beneath Wyrm’s Crossing
Rogues don’t have to use daggers, but there are plenty of impressive options, with some of the best weapons inBG3being the Stillmaker. As the name of this dagger suggests, players that use this dagger can make their target completely still as each hit has the chance to Hold Person.
Once paralyzed, the target is open to every hit being a critical one, which is especially useful when dual-wielding this dagger. With another great melee weapon, it will be sure to increase the overall damage to the target, killing them quickly.

28Everburn Blade
Dropped by Commander Zhalk On The Nautiloid
While act one may only be the beginning of the game, players can earn one of the most powerful greatswords in the entire game while they are still on the Nautiloid.Everburn Bladeis dropped by Commander Zhalk, players can earn this blade by killing him or using the Command spell to force the man to drop it.
This greatsword can then be equipped onany character with proficiencyonce the player has truly started their adventure inBG3. Not only does this blade do 2d6 slashing damage, but also an additional 1d4 of fire damage.

27The Watcher’s Guide
Found Inside The Dank Crypt
One of the biggest positives of the Paladin class is its versatility, and equipping them with a weapon that matches this play style is the best way for a player to make the most of this class inBaldur’s Gate 3. Spears are a great option for this due to players being able to wield them in one hand or two, and therefore, this powerful weapon can be equipped beside a shield or on its own.
Besides this,The Watcher’s Guideisn’t any ordinary spear, as this weapon favors those who like to get up close and personal in battle, as many Paladins do. In addition to its decent damage, this spear also possesses the Death’s Promise ability, which means if the attack misses the next attack roll has the advantage.

26Nature’s Snare
Found Inside A Locked Chest In The Underground Passage
Although this quarterstaff doesn’t inflict much damage, as it hits foes for a lackluster 1d8’s worth, its main strengths come from its weapon skills. Characters proficient in two-handed melee weapons will have the chance to cast Fly Trap when successfully hitting an enemy.
Fly Trap willensnare an enemy rightin its tracks as long as it isn’t a plant or a beast. This will stop the foe from attacking allies if they are at a distance, and then they must therefore attempt to break free before they can move again.

25Sickle Of BOOOAL
Purchased Or Looted From Pooldripp The Zealous
Although this usual farming tool may look quite unassuming, theSickle Of Boooalwhich is a weapon that some players may take an interest in. Many of its stats are incredibly average; however, it also comes with the buff of Boooal’s Benediction that gives the player an advantage when attacking bleeding targets.
Although players have the chance of defeating Boooal, who is a horrid little Redcap, players can find the Sickle of Boooal by defeating Pooldripp The Zealous. He can be found in the Festering Cove in The Underdark as the leader of this strange, murderous cult.

24Staff Of Arcane Blessing
In The Arcane Tower Cellar, Unlocked With A Ring In The Elevator
With similar damage toNature’s Snare, this quarterstaff is also reliant on its weapon skills. As the name suggests, the staff gives the user Mystra’s Blessing, which grants them an additional 1d4 to saving throws and attack throws, as well as 2d4 to spell attack rolls.
The more exciting aspect of this staff is the adventure a player must go on to obtain it. After defeating the boss at the top of the Arcane Tower, the player must equip a ring, which will reveal an elevator that requires a Sussur flower to work. Once finally reaching the top, the player will find the staff.

23Sussur Dagger
Finish the Masterwork Weapon Quest
As one of the best daggers in the game, theSussur Daggerdeserves a mention. It may only deal a 1d4 of piercing damage plus one due to its weapon enchantment, but its weapon skill silences enemies, which is something for players to consider.
Similar to the Silence spell, an enemy struck by this weapon will be unable to cast spells that have a verbal element. That makes it a great weapon to use against Wizards, Warlocks, Sorcerers, or other casting classes.

22Phalar Aluve
Embedded In An Altar In The Underdark
ThePhalar Aluveis another Act One long sword that many players are likely to use for the entirety of their playthrough. While the amount of damage it does may seem rather basic it’s an incredible choice for any player that is considering creating a Bard due to the minor boost it gives to performance.
Apart from this, players can also use the class action of Melody when they have the sword equipped. This action will allow a player to Sing or Shriek, and depending on what the player chooses, this can either buff their party or weaken the enemy.
21Deep Delver
Looted From Elder Brithvar In The Grymforge
As a war pick, this weapon already has a brutal point to it. TheDeep Delverinflicts 1d8 of piercing damage. Proficiencies in this weapon can also increase the brutality of the player’s hits, as they cripple and weaken foes.
Unlike other war picks, this ancestral weapon holds a skill called Dig Deep that has the power to inflict shattered on a hit. This status effect means that when the enemy is hit again, a player can cause an additional 1d4 piercing damage.
