Updated July 05, 2025, by Mark Sammut:At this point, Genshin Impact does not seem destined to ever make its way to the Nintendo Switch. Fortunately, the hybrid system has quite a fewSwitch games like Genshin Impactthat should be able to fill that void.

Xenoblade Chroniclesis one of the most popular JRPG franchises on the Switch, with these games serving as great examples of amazing open-world design coupled with a fun combat system and memorable characters. The series has been going strong, withXenoblade Chronicles 3releasing this year to great pomp and fanfare.

Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered main cast

All the problems from its predecessor are addressed with the wealth of new and improved mechanics being a joy to interact with. All in all,Xenoblade Chronicles 3is a great addition to the series and a fun choice for fans ofGenshin Impact.

Ni no Kuniis a series that needed a really strong debut on home consoles, and it managed to achieve the same withWrath of the White Witch. It was a strong debut title that almost felt like a Studio Ghibli film in video game form.

Fighting enemies in Persona 5 Strikers

While some people had complaints about the game’s combat,Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witchhas many good things going for itthat more than makeup for an unremarkable combat system. It helps that the sequel works on the many complaints in the first game, with both titles being perfect forGenshin Impactfans.

Switch users have a couple ofPersonagames at their disposal. The mainline entries are all fantastic turn-based JRPGs with long and gripping narratives and immersive social sim elements; however, they are very different fromGenshin Impact.Persona 5 Tacticais a side adventure with grid-based tactical combat, and while a perfectly fine time, it does benefit from some familiarity with the Phantom Thieves. Finally, there isPersona 5 Strikers, a spin-off game/sequel that trades turn-based combat for real-time hack and slash action.

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild BOTW Great Plateau upscaled

Strikersblends Musuou battles with some light RPG elements, crafting a middle-ground that caters toPersona’s fanbase while still scratching a similar itch as standardDynasty Warriorsgames. The campaign sends the Phantom Thieves across Japan, where they find themselves taking on Jails. The combat has a solid selection of playable characters since all the Phantom Thieves and a couple of new figures are available, and players pick a part to use in dungeons. While fairly simplistic, the battle system is flashy and satisfying.

LikeTactica,Strikersdoes expect players to be familiar with the main cast, so complete newcomers should start withPersona 5 Royal, provided they don’t detest turn-based JRPGs. Overall, it is also the best game in the trilogy.

Fenyx in Immortals Fenyx Rising

WhileThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildwas released back in 2017, it is still a fantastic game to play. The vast open-world is full of puzzles and combat encounters, and the game is designed in a way to constantly encourage players to explore and investigate to their hearts' content.

BOTWhas a sense of adventure that few other games come close to matching, although it is nowhere near as combat or story-focused asGenshin Impact. Still, the story beats work well for the game, while the action gets the job done. True to the franchise, players take on the role ofLink and must save Hyrule from Calamity Gannon.Breath of the Wildis a great single-player experience, offering hours of entertainment.

neo the world ends with you gameplay

Breath of the Wildis more of an adventure game than an RPG, but it is too big of a title to not recommend toGenshin Impactplayers.Tears of the Kingdomis also an easy recommendation.

Immortals Fenyx Risingtakes players on a grand adventure to save the Greek gods. Players take on the role of Fenyx and must wield the powers of each of the gods to defeat Typhon.

Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom Prince’s Edition switch

The world is full of life and there is plenty to do in every region. Environmental puzzles, hidden treasures, and challenging vaults cover the world. The game also incorporates big and small Greek myths. The myths are incorporated in a way that can make even the most serious mythology fan laugh.

Those looking for aGenshin Impact-type experience on the Nintendo Switchshould start withBreath of the Wildbecause it is one of the best titles on the console. However,Immortals Fenyx Rising’s combat and story presentation are closer to miHoYo’s game.

Ys 8 Lacrimosa Of Dana switch

Square Enix’s highly anticipated sequel to 2007’sThe World Ends with Youreturns players to Shibuya to once again take part in the Reapers' Game. AsNeo: The World Ends With Youwas designed specifically for home consoles, it is a full 3D game with combat that flows better than the system found in its predecessor’s Switch version. Stuck in a life-or-death game, Rindo and Fret assemble a team of quirky characters as they seek to top the contest’s leaderboard to avoid a tragic fate that awaits the ultimate loser.

Along with having an anime-inspired aesthetic that should pleaseGenshin Impactfans,Neo’s team-focused combat is free-flowing, fast-paced, and constantly evolving throughpins that unlock new moves. Shibuya is minuscule compared to Teyvat, butNeo’s world oozes charm and personality.

Originally released for PS4 and Windows,Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdommade its way to the Nintendo Switch on July 18, 2025. Featuring six playable characters that utilize different weapon types,Ni no Kuni 2has an accessible hack-and-slash combat system that also includes a fun mechanic that involvescreatures known as Higgledies.

UnlikeNi no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, which is also available on the Switch,Revenant Kingdomdidn’t have any direct involvement from Studio Ghibli; however, the sequel’s art direction and visuals are very much inspired by the anime studio’s work. The JRPG’s story takes players to multiple nations, all of which have their own well-defined cultures and curiosities waiting to be discovered.

Anyone looking for an action JRPG is unlikely to go wrong with aYstitle, andLacrimosa of Danais the pick of the bunch from the games available on the Switch. Similar toGenshin Impact,Ys 8’s combat allows players to switch between multiple characters who have their own strengths, weaknesses, and combat styles. Team synergy isn’t all that important inYs 8, but players need to be selective in their compositions to take down some of the game’s hardest bosses. The combat is smooth, explosive, and satisfying.

The game takes place on the mysterious Isle of Seiren, a nature-forward location that is pretty expansive forYs, even if it doesn’t quite compare to Teyvat. AlthoughYsgames live and die by their gameplay,Lacrimosa of Dana’s narrative is more than serviceable, while the characters are generally likable.Ys 9: Monstrum Noxis also a solid option, but the sequel takes far longer to open up than its predecessor.

InMonster Hunter Rise, players explore ahuge world full of monsters. Players can play in groups with friends or on their own.Monster Hunter Riseintroduces more options to use verticality to take down creatures, something the earlier installments in the franchise did not have.

The large variety of weapons and armor is a great way for players to build the character they want.Monster Hunter Risealso introduces a survival mode where players must defend the base village from monsters.
