Summary

Starfieldwas advertised as a massive game, and it technically is. With randomly generated content across hundreds of planets, players could be playing the game without DLC probably until this time next year. The main story content is much shorter though and players should be able to finish the campaign in around the 20 to 25 hour mark.

That’s not bad for an open-world RPG from Bethesda. This is all to say thatStarfieldhas a lot of dialogue, and it can be hard to choose the best in the entire game. As far as the main story goes, these are some choice quotes. There will be spoilers in this breakdown.

8“Holy Sh*t, The Two Of You Did All That?”

“Groundpounder” is an early side quest inStarfieldthat players can tackle which tasks the players with saving a bunch of marines and researchers from a pirate infestation. One of the first sets of NPCs that players will rescue are Sergeant Dasari and Lieutenant Torres. Upon rescue, Dasari asks where the rest of the team is to which players can answer that they were alone.

This concept was alarming to both Dasari and Torres which is when Dasari says this quote. It’s funny as a sort of meta-commentary on how video game protagonists are kind of like unstoppable gods whether they have party members or not.

7“Maybe The Less I Know About That The Better.”

This quote from Emma, one of the Freestar Rangers, is also like a commentary on video games. She will accompany players on a quest called “Deputized” once players join thefaction inStarfield. Like many missions in the game, it’s all about rescuing someone from a group of thugs, and in this case, a group of mercenaries is terrorizing a farm.

Emma will be impressed with how fast the player will kill these men. She will want to know the player’s backstory on how they got this good, but then she second-guesses herself. Emma seemingly realizes the backstory might be too shady for the Freestar Rangers.

6“Easy Girl, Breathe, You’ll Have A Heart Attack.”

Sarah says this line to Noel after players put theArtifacts together for the first time inStarfield. They start to move and form a sphere, floating independently from everything around them. This discovery has Noel start to babble about science mumbo jumbo, which is why Sarah cuts in with this joke.

This is when the main plot of the game should start to come together. Players are going to be tasked with collecting these Artifacts to unravel the mysteries of the universe.

5“I Find Matching Wits With The Neon Underworld To Always Be Invigorating.”

When players first enter The Lodge and join Constellation, they may not think too highly of Walter. He definitely seems like the high society type who likes to sit back and drink brandy while other people get their hands dirty.

Opinions for Walter will change once they go on a quest involving retrieving an Artifact onNeon inStarfield. Walter cannot wait to get his hands dirty on this one, which is when he starts to sound like he is having fun in this quote. For context, Neon is a city on a planet surrounded by water that has the vibes ofCyberpunk 2077.

4“You Have An Opportunity To Reach The Closest Thing To Your God That Might Exist And You Are Second Guessing It?”

This is another great quote from Walter, and he says this to Matteo. This will occur when players return from having their meeting withThe Hunter and The Emissary for the first time inStarfield. It’s a revelation to find out that the Artifacts were leading to a gateway to the multiverse.

This is what Matteo’s religion has been searching for, but he is no fool. His reply to Walter is wise as Matteo knows to take things with a grain of salt. “One doesn’t approach the afterlife with such trepidation.”

3“War, Disease, Famine, All The Classics.”

Players will have two chances to choose who to follow between The Hunter and The Emissary. They can also choose to side with neither of these two men, thus prompting a colossal showdown at the end of the game.

This quote comes from the second meeting via The Hunter who defends NASA for sacrificing Earth to unlock space travel. The Hunter believes that the planet would have died eventually anyway. As bad as he is, The Hunter is not wrong, and it is a biting commentary on thestate Earthis in.

2“Umm…What?”

One of the wildest missions in the game is being hotly debated online. It’s called “Entangled” and is part of the main quest line. Players will arrive at a research station and randomly keep flipping back and forth between realities. In one reality an experiment went okay and in another, everyone died except for one survivor.

After discovering what is happening, players get a few choices to explain the phenomenon to two researchers, Maria and Director Patel. Upon hearing the idea of alternate realities, Maria can reply with this quote. The annoyance in her voice is priceless and overall this is a cool idea for a mission.

1“I Saw This And Thought Of You.”

This quote can come from anycompanion inStarfieldalthough how it is worded might be different. When a companion starts to like the player, they will give them gifts. This particular version of the quote is from Andreja who talks up this grand gesture.

Turns out the reward is just a bunch of Credits. It’s not a bad gift as money is always appreciated in a game. However, it’s also kind of rude to look at money and say to someone, “Hey this reminded me of you.”
