Over the years,The Legend of Zeldaseries has seen its fair share of supporting characters. From villains to helpful folks, they made each tale complete. Link’s journey wouldn’t have been the same without each one of these characters. While many of them made their debut early and continued to reappear throughout the series, several have been one-offs.

These characters have made their impressions in one game or another and have never been seen or heard from again. Some of them may have made an appearance within theHyrule Warriorsgames, but specifically speaking ofThe Legend of Zeldaseries of games, these are unique individuals that only made one appearance throughout the decades of gaming history.
8Navi - Ocarina Of Time
Although somewhat annoying, Navi served an excellent purpose inOcarina of Timeas Link’s guide and ever helpful companion. Of course, players were often ready to put her in a jar due to the number of times she shouted “Hey” or “Listen!”
Despite her tendency to be overbearing, she was useful at teaching players the ropes. Additionally, she was pretty decent at providing some good tips now and again. Overall,as a companion, she wasn’t that bad.

7Tatl - Majora’s Mask
In the second installment for the N64, Link got another fairy companion. Luckily the developers seemed to get their act together and made her significantly less annoying than her predecessor. Initially, Link and Tatl start their relationship on the wrong foot, with Tatl continuously berating him.

Eventually, he earns her respect, and they make an effective team. What’s interesting about Tatl is that she comes with a backstory and players get to see into where she came from to get a better understanding of her, other than just having a guide who tells Link what to do.
6Fi - Skyward Sword
Some may argue that Fi technically appears in all installments ofThe Legend of Zeldaas she is actually the spirit that rests inside the Goddess Sword, which laterbecomes the Master Sword. This sword is an element throughout the entire series. However,Skyward Swordis the only game where she makes a physical appearance.
Tasked with being his guide before she goes into a slumber within the sword, Fihelps link on his mission. Initially, she seems cold and disconnected, but over time, it’s clear that they have a deeper connection.

5Medli - The Wind Waker
One of the most memorable supporting characters comes fromThe Wind Waker. Medli is a member of the Rito tribe, making her half bird, half human. She’s also the dragon god Valoo’s apprentice attendant.
She cares deeply for those around her and will go to great lengths to take care of them. This includes accompanying Link into two dungeons, which helps fulfill her role as Valoo’s attendant and as the Earth Sage. She does make appearances in other game series, but this is her exclusiveLOZrole.

4Ezlo - The Minish Cap
Perhaps the most unique of all Link’s companions over the years, Ezlo is a green bird hat for lack of a better description. He wasn’t always a hat but was transformed into one by his own apprentice mage Vaati, who is also the primary villain ofThe Minish Cap.

Ezlo always had some great advice to provide, interesting background information, witty dialogue, and in a pinch could turn himself into a parachute. He’s one of the best guides Link has had on his many journeys.
3Girahim - Skyward Sword
Not all supporting characters are good guys. In fact, some of the best in the history ofZeldaare the villains. One such example is Girahim. He spends his time hunting for Zelda throughout the land below Skyloft so that he can use her to resurrect Demise.
He is one of the most theatrical enemies Link has ever faced, often losing his temper when things don’t go the way he wants. In the end, it turns out his true form is that of Demise’s sword, much like Fi was the spirit of the Goddess Sword.

2Zant - Twilight Princess
Zant spends the majority of the game with his face covered, only revealing it toward the end. He claims to be the true King of Twilight. However, he usurped the kingdom from Midna and transformed her into the diminished form that Link met her in.
He’s one of Ganondorf’s minions and only appears in this game, but he’s quite memorable and one of the best villains Link has had to contend with. He’s also no joke in battle, giving Link a run for his money.

1Midna - Twilight Princess
Midna is one of Link’s companions, and she was introduced inTwilight Princess. She’s actually the real leader of the Twilight Realm but has been turned into her current shrunken form by the evil Zant. The only reason she chose to rescue Link in his wolf form is that she knows he’s the key to saving her people.
She starts off snarky and disrespectful toward him but eventually grows to be a trusted partner. It goes so far that she even sacrifices herself whileattempting to defeat Ganondorf. One of the defining elements of this game is her developing friendship with Link.
