A bigOverwatch 2Invasion update reveal has been confirmed by Blizzard for next week. Unlike the original title,Overwatch 2is a free-to-play hero shooter which solidifies the regular content patches that draw in players regularly, with the next one getting a proper spotlight later this month.AsOverwatchcontent patches slowed down, Blizzard confirmed the existence ofOverwatch 2and new features that players could expect such as new heroes and the PvE elements. These sequel-exclusive battles became a highly anticipated feature for fans that played the first few seasons ofOverwatch 2. While these fans may have been disappointed byseveralOverwatch 2PvE aspects being cutfrom the game to focus on PvP and seasonal game modes, Blizzard is set to unveil what hasn’t been cut and is coming to the hero shooter soon.RELATED:Overwatch 2 Season 5 Update Changes 7 Year Old MapTheOverwatchTwitter account has confirmed that a “deep dive” is planned forOverwatch 2Invasion on June 21 at 11 AM Pacific time. According to the tweet, the showcase will center on theOverwatch 2story missionsthat have been teased by Blizzard on multiple occasions, Hero Mastery mode which will highlight the unique characters in the roster, and the PvP game mode called Flashpoint. Blizzard has teased even more details for theOverwatch 2Invasion showcase which may suggest that it will give players an idea of cosmetics or hero balancing joining the update.

Overwatch 2will soon be getting three PvE story missions spread out across the global locations in its map rotation, while a new co-op event dubbed “Underworld” focuses on theclassicOverwatchmap King’s Row. Blizzard has suggested that Hero Mastery will challenge a player’s knowledge of eachOverwatch 2character which may hint that things become more difficult or scale so that a player is ready to be competitive with a hero from experiencing this mode. Blizzard has confirmed that these new features will be part of theOverwatch 2Invasion patch which releases on August 10, leaving almost two months between the showcase and content drop.

Because Blizzard has only teasedOverwatch 2’s Flashpoint mode and other things coming with the Invasion patch during a dev chat in May, the Invasion deep dive may give players a better idea of what the update will include. Given thatOverwatch 2has seen a backlashsince Blizzard stated many PvE aspects were scrapped, Invasion and its content may entice some lapsed fans to return.

Overwatch 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
