According to the title’s Game Director, Ion Hazzikostas, there could be class changes in the works. In a developer Q&A the director mentions howWorld of Warcraft: Shadowlands' classesare getting more themed sets in the future. WhileChains of Dominationwill not be receiving any, it will not be long before more sets come out. Since the next update is coming in 2021, it seems like players can expect more class changes later this year.
To be specific, Hazzikostas describes what these class updates will actually mean for fans. From the Q&A, it sounds like the team is focusing on updating glyphs. Blizzard is constantly seeking out ways to allow players flexibility in visual identity and expression. The developers want to bring this philosophy to class abilities, and give fans greater freedomlike a completely pacifist playstyle. Unfortunately, the director also specifies that there are no specific examples at this time.

Being able to make a unique character which meets thematic and mechanical goals can make or break a game in this genre.
