Each monster inBreath of the Wildhave their own subspecies. For example, there are Ice-Breath and Fire-Breath Lizalfos in addition to regular Lizalfos. Silver Monsters are powerful enemies, and it’s not recommended for players to fight them until they have stronger armor and weapons. The Wizzrobe enemies are not exempt from this.
There are three types of Wizzrobes inBreath of the Wild: Ice, Fire, and Electric Wizzrobe. Defeating them causes them to drop elemental rod weapons. Link will need the Ice variant to complete the sidequest: A Freezing Rod. However, this sidequest has a better reward for those willing to do the extra work.

Unlocking “A Freezing Rod” Sidequest
Players will need to find theKorok Forestbefore they can accept this sidequest. TheGreat Hyrule Forestis north of Hyrule Castle. Players will need to take the path leading to theLost Woods. Trying to fly into the Great Hyrule Forest won’t work. When entering the Lost Woods, following thedirection of the flames. Eventually, Link will need to use a torch to light the way. Going off track will send him back to the beginning.
Once players are near the Korok Forest, they’ll hear the Sheikah Sensordetecting a nearby Shrine. Walk closer and activate the Shrine to unlock a Travel Point to Korok Forest. Then, approach the Great Deku Tree and sit through a cutscene. If players have13 hearts, they can draw the Master Sword from its pedestal.

Straight ahead at the foot of the Deku Tree is a Korok namedKula. Speaking to him unlocks the “Freezing Rod.” Show an Ice rod weapon to Kula to complete the sidequest. Here’s something to keep in mind:
Ice Rod vs. Blizzard Rod
Just like the other weapons in-game, Ice Rods and Blizzard Rods can’t be bought from any merchant. They can’t be found abandoned in the wild, either. Link will need to defeatIce WizzrobesorBlizzrobesto get one. These enemies look identical, except the Blizzrobe has ablue pattern on its frontwhile the Ice Wizzrobe does not.
An Ice Wizzrobe will drop an Ice Rod while a Blizzard Wizzrobe will drop a Blizzard Rod. With an Ice/Blizzard Rod equipped, hold down and release R-buttonto cast an ice ball. If Link is using a Blizzard Rod, it’ll firethree ice ballsinstead of one. Another difference between these two weapons are the damage output with Blizzard Rods being stronger. Since it deals ice-based attacks, fire enemiessuch as the Fire-Breath Lizalfoswill be defeated instantly when hit.

If Link is exploring a hot area such as the Gerudo Wasteland, have an Ice/Blizzard Rod equipped. This will act as a level 1 heat-resistant to the climate. They’re not very useful in the hotter areas of the Eldin Region.

Where to Find Ice Wizzrobe and Blizzrobe
While Wizzrobes served as minibosses inMajora’s Mask, that isn’t the case inBreath of the Wild. Before going off to hunt Wizzrobes, players should purchase Fire Arrows or at least make sure they havea fire-based weapon in their stash. Wizzrobes can be fought normally just as any other monster, but since there’s a 1-hit way to defeat them, it’s recommended to just use Fire Arrows.
There’s an Ice Wizzrobe in theCrenel Hillsto the east ofHyrule Castle. This isn’t too far away from the Korok Forest, so if players don’t care for the rupees, they should go here to get the Ice Rod.
For those that don’t mind traveling, they should look for a Blizzrobe. There’s onenear the Goma Asaagh Shrinein theHebra Mountains(refer to theskull stampon theabove image). If players arewarping to the Goma Asaagh Shrine, then use Fire Arrows or a fire weapon to burn away the ice just enough for Link to squeeze through. Alternatively, use Revali’s Gale to fly over them. Link won’t be able to climb the walls surrounding the Shrine.
From the Goma Asaagh Shrine,go right and up the path. There will be a Blizzrobe prancing about. Take out a fire arrow and melt it away. Make sure to pick up the Blizzard Rod it drops. It wouldn’t do to come all the way out to the Hebra Mountains for nothing.
Return to Kula to formally complete “A Freezing Rod.” Again, depending on the elemental rod, Kula will give100 rupees (Ice Rod)or300 rupees (Blizzard Rod). After turning in the quest, players can discard the rodif they don’t need it.
