Activision just released a ton of new information concerning the second season ofCall of Duty Black Ops Cold War, and all on the heels of announcing theupcoming season’s release date, February 25. The information pretty much covers everything players should expect from the approaching season, including — but not limited to — new maps, operators, and the debut of the popularCall of Dutymode Gun Game inBlack Ops Cold War.
When exactly Gun Game is supposed to arrive isn’t specified at the moment. The blog post that details its release only claims that it will debut sometime during the second season’s launch week, which is a description mirrored in several of the other new items featured in the post. However, it’ll most likely launch the same day that the season goes live. Thursday is usually whenCall of Duty Black Ops Cold Wardeveloper Treyarchchanges out multiplayer modes.

Gun Game will remain untouched from its original iteration; it won’t have any new spins to it. Players won’t have access to Custom Loadouts, Perks, Equipment, Field Upgrades, orScorestreaks. Instead, they’ll have to use a predetermined set of weapons. Each set will consist of 20 weapons, start with a pistol, and end with a knife. Successfully killing someone with a weapon will move players to the next available one. Meanwhile, kills with melee attacks and Finishing Moves will set victims back one weapon. The first person to cycle through all 20 weapons wins.
The othergame modes coming withCall of Duty Black Ops Cold War’s Season 2include Stockpile and Hardpoint. Like Gun Game, these modes don’t have exact release dates. In fact, their release descriptions are even vaguer than Gun Game’s, simply stating that the modes will happen sometime this season. Regardless, like Gun Game, the announcement at least means that they’ve entered the rotation.Black Ops Cold Warhas featured Hardpoint before, but Stockpile’s Season 2 appearance will be its first.
In regards to how the two upcoming modes will play out inCall of Duty Black Ops Cold War, Hardpoint sees 10 squads of four running around the map with the objective of capturing and defending Hardpoint hills that rotate every 120 seconds. The first squad to reach 500 seconds of total objective time wins the match. Stockpile works as a mix of both Hardpoint and the Kill Confirmed game mode. Like Kill Confirmed, players kill enemies and collect their dog tags, but to get points they have to stockpile those tags at deposit sites that rotate around the map.
