Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris a highly-anticipated game for this holiday season, as Treyarch looks to continue off thesuccess ofBlack Ops Cold War’s largely-downloaded beta. However, not all news leading up to launch is getting fans happy about the game, as recently a wave of gamers have voiced their thoughts about a PlayStation-exclusive bonus.
Fans have claimed that Activision is being anti-consumer with its PlayStation bonuses. PS5 and PS4 players will receive extra create a class slots, tier skips, double XP events, and more ways to earn XP inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warthat no other platform is getting.

PlayStation players ofBlack Ops Cold War, which will launch on November 13, will receive two extra create a class slots. More slots seem to be a fan ask for almost everyCall of Dutygame, so only PlayStation users getting this right away is iffy. The Battle Pass Bundle Bonus will cost $20, but it is only available on the PS4/PS5, and gives players extra tier skips with the battle pass. The PlayStation Party Bonus allows players to receive more XP when they play together in groups, and there will also be Monthly Double XP event for PlayStation gamers only.
WithBlack Ops Cold Warbeing cross-platform, it does seem unfair that players on one platform will be able to unlock items faster, have more options, and more, while others cannot take advantage. Many fans online are saying that this is a combination of pay-to-win (as the Battle Pass Bundle Bonus will cost money) and exclusivity nonsense.
The content, calledPlayStation Advantage, certainly seems to live up to its name. PlayStation gamers are able to enjoy bonus content simply for playing on a Sony device. The more XP could lead to unlocking powerful weapons and attachments quicker, while the battle pass tier skips could result in PlayStation users being able to play with new weapons first.
PlayStation gamers may not feel too bad about the exclusive bonuses, especially when there are entirely exclusive games. WithMicrosoft purchasing Bethesdaand likely making its future games exclusive, there’s something to be said for possibly taking small extras too seriously. That being said, there may be something to the idea of it being anti-consumer for one platform to have a competitive advantage over others.
