Today is a big day forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, as today marks the start ofthe first ofModern Warfare’s post-launch seasons. With that comes with the debut of the first Battle Pass in aCall of Dutygame, which will enable players to earn XP and unlock new items through regular gameplay throughout Season 1.
It’s going to cost players something to get everything the Pass has to offer, but luckily it won’t break the bank for them. Now that Season 1 and the Battle Pass are going live today, official details on what players can expect have come to light, courtesy of YouTubers like eColiEspresso who were recently invited by Infinity Ward to previewModern WarfareSeason 1’s content ahead of launch.
Just as a refresher,Modern WarfareSeason 1’s Battle Pass includes 100 tiersfor players to unlock through playing multiplayer and Spec Ops. These can be unlocked with COD Points,Modern Warfare’s premium in-game currency. Price-wise, it costs 1,000 COD Points (which cost $10 in real money to buy) to unlock all 100 tiers. That is probably the only practical option for unlocking the full Pass, as the other option is spending 150 COD Points ($1.50) for each individual tier, which would bring the total price to a hefty $150 in COD Points.

As for what these tiers grant players, the Battle Pass includes mostly new cosmetic items, such as operator skins, emblems, weapon blueprints, and charms, in addition to XP tokens that only serve to speed things up. Also included areSeason 1’s new guns, the Ram-7 and Holger-26, but, as eColiEspresso reminded, these are included in the Battle Pass’ 20+ free tiers, in keeping with Activision’s intention of making rewards that affectModern Warfare’s gameplay available for everyone.
What’s more, in keeping with the growing trend with battle passes in other games, it’s possible for players who do pay for the full Pass here to earn back what they spent, and then some. In addition to all of the other perks,Modern Warfare’s Battle Pass sports a grand total of 1,300 COD Pointsto earn through grinding out the whole thing, meaning players can not only earn back the currency they spent initially, but get a discount as well on the next Battle Pass once Season 2 rolls around.
One last thing to note: according to eColiEspresso’s conversations with Infinity Ward, it should take players on average an hour to unlock each of the Battle Pass tiers, though that estimate will vary depending on factors like how many double XP tokens a player has. Luckily, anyone interested inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s new guns won’t have to grind for too long to unlock them, as they’ll be available by tier 31.
