The recently released free-to-play battle royaleCall of Duty: Warzonehas been hugely popularsince launch, passing over 15 million players worldwide. However, its developer Infinity Ward is still giving attention to the current main entry in the long-running series,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, with a patch released today that updates playlists and fixes bugs.
There are four multiplayer playlists noted in Infinity Ward’s patch notes: Cranked Kill Confirmed, Mercenary Moshpit,Atlas Superstore 24/7,and Gunfight. The lastModern Warfareplaylist, Gunfight, is given special attention, including a St. Patrick’s Day theme to coincide with the holiday.

Most of the patch notes beyond that pertain to bug fixes throughoutCall of Duty: Modern Warfare. For instance, it lists fixes to bugs in which players were able to clip through walls in the Hospital map, a “rare bug” where players had increased movement speed coming out of the Gulag, and an exploit where players were able to still shoot when downed. There are also UI fixes, such as making the “Redeploy Squadmate” text more obvious on-screen.
Infinity Ward also lists a patch note for “Battle Royale” mode, in whichCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers can compete by themselveswithout repercussions through entering a lobby where every player is alone. For its first week, the game has forced players to work in teams of three, and Infinity Ward has discussed the possibility of adding further team size options to potentially allow 4- and 5-person squads.
As far as the St. Patrick’s Day theme for Gunfight goes,Modern Warfare’s take on the holiday seems much more toned down than the bevy ofValentine’s Day-themed playlistsincorporated last month. However, there are also two special bundles available in the store according to the Activision Games Blog: A “Tracer Pack Green” bundle and a “Clover and Out” bundle with aesthetic items like a Pot of Gold charm and Shamrock sticker.
Between pushing updates forModern Warfare, the brand newWarzonebattle royale, and rumors of aremastered version of 2009’sModern Warfare 2in the works, theCall of Dutyteam certainly seems to have a lot on their plate. It’s good to see that they’re still taking the time to have a little fun by giving fans festive green options to play with.
