Call of Duty: Vanguardplayers excited to work on the Secrets of the Pacific event are out of luck. While the event was added toCall of Duty: Vanguardyesterday, it has already been disabled by Sledgehammer Games due to some major issues.
This is not the onlyCall of Dutyevent to have some problems, as theHunt for Adler eventwas infamous for being buggy instead of working as intended. While it worked fine inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, it was a mess inCall of Duty: Warzone, with intel contracts spawning outside the map and progress not tracking. When it comes to Secrets of the Pacific, the reverse has happened, withCall of Duty: Vanguard’s event being broken and theCall of Duty: Warzoneportion working fine.

When the event was added toCall of Duty: Vanguard, players began crashing constantly. This issue seemingly impacted a large number of gamers, as Sledgehammer Games tweeted that the crashes were “widespread” and being investigated. Only twenty minutes later, it seems like the developer realized the severity of the crashes, as the event was completely disabled with no ETA on when it would make a return. Hopefully, a fix comes quick, as the event is limited time and will end prior tothe start of Season 1.
As for rewards, theleaked Calling Cards showcasing Calderaare on the line, with emblems and charms available as well.Call of Duty: WarzoneandCall of Duty: Vanguardhave a different batch of items and challenges, so players could always hop into the battle royale game and work on those challenges as they wait for theCall of Duty: Vanguardevent to go back online. All of them center on landing in specific locations and should not take too much effort to complete.
As forCall of Duty: Vanguard’s challenges, none are particularly hard. Players will need to get 25 kills, five multikills, and pull off one finishing move. The other three challenges task players with voting for a team MVP 10 times, playing five matches with a clanmate, and getting three wins in multiplayer. If players complete all six challenges in either game, they will get the Bomber Menace weapon blueprint in Season 1. Further, for those that started making progress before the event was shut down, Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that the progress will be kept when the event is restored.
While the event shutdown likely disappointedCall of Duty: Vanguardplayersthat were excited to learn more about Caldera, the removal was the right move so that gamers can still play without crashes. When the event returns, hopefully it does so without the troublesome crashes that are holding it back.
