Activision has confirmed it plans to bring backCall of Duty: Warzone 2’s popular solo queue for Resurgence following fan frustrations at its removal. It seems likeCall of Dutyplayers are frustrated and disappointed with decisions made by Activision and the developers ofWarzoneday to day. But it’s rare for the company to then reverse course on these decisions. That appears to be the case, however, for the decision to removeCall of Duty: Warzone 2’s Resurgence solo queue.In early Febraury, the officialCall of DutyTwitter account posted that Resurgence on Ashika Island would support “All Squad sizes at launch.” This did come to pass as part ofSeason 2 ofWarzone 2, but it wouldn’t last. Solo queues for Resurgence have since been removed, though it’s not entirely clear why. The mode was available for just four days, leaving just Resurgence Quads available. A tweet from the officialCall of DutyTwitter account has announced that “all Resurgence squad sizes” will be returning for the rest of the season with therelease of Season 02 Reloaded. Season 02 Reloaded is expected to arrive on March 15.
No explanation for the decision to remove thesolo queue for Resurgencewas mentioned, but there was a reference to it. After confirming that Resurgence squad size playlists will be returning, theCall of DutyTwitter account added that playlist and map rotations will remain “subject to change” based on feedback and internal data. That’s as much of an answer as fans are likely to revive at this point.
While it’s not stated explicitly, the message from theCall of Duty: Warzone 2team appears to be that it saw something it was unhappy with when it launched the additional Resurgence playlist options. There may have been too many Resurgence players, leading to a disruption of the main battle royale mode’s queues. Or there may have been technical issues that weren’t otherwise apparent.
Ultimately, what matters is thatCall of Duty: Warzone 2players enjoyed the solo queue option for Resurgence, it was removed for no clear reason, and players were unhappy. Activision is doing the right thing and bringing it back, butWarzone 2playerslikely understand it may not be a permanent thing. Further, it seems that communication regarding certainCall of Duty: Warzone 2decisions may not be entirely reliable or transparent.
