Call of Duty: Warzoneis just about to start its third season, and has a lot of new content coming along with it like new operators, guns, and a new “Hunt for Adler” event. The season also promises to make some changes toCall of Duty: Warzone’s Verdansk map, but popularCall of Dutystreamer NICKMERCS says that he isn’t going to let his hopes get too high.
Map changes are a big part of seasonal updates for battle royales, and other games in the genre likeApex LegendsandFortnitedo really big changes to their mapsto ensure that they stay fresh for players as they repeatedly play on them. However, someCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers, with NICKMERCS included, were not satisfied with Season 2’s changes.

In a recent video discussing information of what’s to come in Season 3, NICKMERCS said that he was hoping for new guns to mix upCall of Duty: Warzone’s often frustrating meta, but also said that when it came to map changes he wasn’t getting his hopes up. NICKMERCS says that while he’s hopeful that the changes will be big, his disappointment with the lackluster changes brought by Season 2 have him guarded against being disappointed yet again.
While developer Raven Software has not released any details on how the map will be updated, rumor has it that the season will see Verdansk going back in time to a Cold War-era rendition of the city. While the map moving to an entirely different time period could bring some big changes to the map, it is unknown if it will be purely aesthetic or if it will bring more meaningful changes with a bigger impact on gameplay. WhileCall of Duty: Warzonehas also been building towards a large nuclear eventthat could bring huge changes, it is unclear what the event will entail as it’s the first of its kind for the game.
Call of Duty: Warzonehas been a rollercoaster for many players who have become frustrated with the game’s frequently imbalanced meta, constant war with cheaters, and various bugs. WhileCall of Duty: Warzone’s upcoming Season 3 and “Hunt for Adler” eventhave the potential to reinvigorate the battle royale’s player base, only time will tell whether or not it brings enough changes to satisfy its biggest name players like NICKMERCS and Dr Disrespect. Luckily, the new season launches in two days, so fans will not have to wait long to see what new form Verdansk takes.
