Kirby and the Forgotten Landwill be releasing next month, capping off Nintendo’s fiscal year with a new title in one of its biggest franchises. In it, Kirby can turn into various big objects like a construction cone pylon, a vending machine, and a scissor-lift through the new Mouthful Mode feature which was shown off in a newKirby and the Forgotten Landtrailer. With the new Mouthful Mode, Kirby is able to inhale various objects that seem much too big for him, and use the objects' abilities to progress through the level.
Inside the Nintendo Direct a couple of days ago,Kirby and the Forgotten Landfans also saw the Mouthful Mode reveal start with Kirby essentially inhaling an old, rusted car, which let it drive around the level. Naturally, the unique looking Car Kirby became an instant hit across the Internet. Lovingly dubbed “Carby” by fans, the absurdity ofKirby being able to inhale a car to drive it generated plenty of memesonline.

YouTuber RiazorMC has already found a way to mod the Kirby car intoMario Kart 8 Deluxe, complete with the car racing on courses. While it appears to only be used in Time Trials, it’s cool to see someone already putting the Kirby car intoMario Kart 8 Deluxe. The impressive mod could likely fool someone who was unfamiliar withKirby and the Forgotten LandorMario Kart 8 Deluxe, convincing them it is an actual kart from the game.
While aDLC pack was announced forMario Kart 8 Deluxeduring the Nintendo Direct, fans were speculating an announcement ofMario Kart 9, as rumors about the game have been swirling for about a couple of months. There are some rumors that say other Nintendo characters could appear inMario Kart 9, similar to howSuper Smash Bros.brings in characters from all over Nintendo’s titles.
Perhaps to mess with viewers, RiazorMC even named their Kirby car video ‘Mario Kart 9’ though it could also be wishful thinking that the Kirby car could be an easy inclusion into a futureMario Karttitle. Either way, it appears thatMario Kart 9is at least a couple of years away, since theMario Kart 8 DeluxeDLC that was announced a couple of days ago during the Nintendo Direct will continue releasing content until the end of 2023.
Until gamers seeMario Kart 9, they can continue to hypothesize on what other Nintendo characters could make an appearance or not. Until then, players can enjoyKirby in car form inKirby and the Forgotten Land.
