Cosplays are always enhanced when being done in groups to express an even wider range of characters from the IP that everyone is dressed up as. One couple decided to capture the essence ofThe Witcherseries when visiting their local Renaissance Faire.

Posted to the sub-Reddit r/TheWitcher by u/Semipreciousmetal, this cosplay/crossplay captures the essence of Geralt and Dandelion (or Jaskier for those familiar with the Netflix show) perfectly. ThroughoutThe Witchergames, show, and books, the pair have something of a complicated love-hate relationship with one another as Dandelion’s whimsicality is sometimes too much for Geralt’s down-to-earth, serious demeanor. Despite this, in the books, Dandelion shares a deep bond with Geralt.

Semipreciousmetal is able to embody Geralt’s frustration with her facial expression in the first image and the Dandelion cosplayer does the same withDandelion’s happy-go-lucky approach to his music. From the looks of Semipreciousmetal’s comments, the Dandelion cosplayer is able to actually play the mandolin he’s holding and the pair sung the “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher” song featured prominently in the Netflix adaptation. Plenty of commenters were wondering if Semipreciousmetal brought one or two ofGeralt’s swordsthat aren’t featured in either picture, but she says that she didn’t have any, but is hoping to pick one up to complete the cosplay in the future. The two posed for pictures at the Colorado Renaissance Faire.

The WitcherNetflix series has been a popular inspiration for plenty ofWitchercosplayers and with the second season of the show airing later this year, many fans are putting together costumes for upcoming conventions. Recently, some ofthe cast for Netflix’sThe Witcher: Blood Origin, a prequel series toThe Witcher, was revealed, so there’s likely going to be plenty more intricate costumes to create and characters to embody forWitchercosplays.

One of the interesting things to take note of when examining cosplays forThe Witcheris trying to tell if they’re based on the interpretation seen in the video game series or in the TV show. Oftentimes, they’re a mix of both, but this Dandelion seems to be based on the show. It’s most evident from the fact that Semipreciousmetal refers to the character as Jaskier, instead of Dandelion.

Jaskier is Dandelion’s name in Polish, the original language thatThe Witcherwas written in, but it’s changed to Dandelion for most English translations. In the Netflix show, however, Jaskier keeps his Polish name but remains essentially the same character that’s seen in the novels.
