For many current anime fans,Crunchyrollhas cornered the market as the one-stop shop for top-tier anime tv series. From itssimulcast series to its limitless archive, fans have had countless options at their disposal, but now Crunchyroll plans to stream some recent hit films as well for a limited time.
Seeing anime films in theaters has become much more possible these days, but the opportunities are still few and far between. The last few years have seen plenty of high-profile anime films make it to American theaters for limited releases, but fans will now be able to catch some ofthose films and others on Crunchyrollstarting this month.

Crunchyroll announced earlier this week that on Thursdays in September, and on one Wednesday, fans will be able to catchJujutsu Kaisen 0,Afro Samurai: Resurrection,Odd Taxi: In the Woods,The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, thePyscho-pass: Sinners of the Systemmovie trilogy and other films. There’s only one catch. Each film will only stream on one Thursday, except forJujutsu Kaisen 0which will only stream on Wednesday the 21st. Crunchyroll plans to do the same for October with a different set of films yet to be announced.
While most of these films originally debuted between 2017 and 2019,Jujutsu Kaisen 0,Odd Taxi: In the Woods, andBang Dream! Poppin’ Dream!all experienced relatively short runs in American movie theaters earlier this year. For many fans, this will be their first opportunity to see the films after missing the theatrical releases. Jujutsu Kaisen 0is the filmthat fans really need to block out time for on their calendar. Once Crunchyroll streams it, who knows how long it’ll be before fans have another opportunity to see this box office smash hit? Currently sitting at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, this film has surpassed classics likeAkiraand more recent hits likeA Silent Voice.
Although, maybeJujutsu Kaisen 0isn’t the film that all fans will be streaming onCrunchyrollthis September. The other films being streamed all have dedicated fan bases as well. That’s not even mentioning theanime films available on Netflixand other streaming services. There are several hit films on those for fans to also enjoy.
