Crysis Remasteredhas had something of a confused lead up to its release with leaks, backtracking and delays. WithCrysis Remasteredconfirmed to have a September releasedate on all platforms (besides Switch, which launched earlier), it seems that the PC version won’t be available on all storefronts.
Crysis Remasteredis the next game to become an Epic Games Store exclusive as the digital platform continues its aggressive push for timed releases on PC. The news comes alongside the release date and new details of how developer Saber Interactive will break PCs the same way the original did.

The news ofCrysis Remastered’s exclusivity deal comes soon after another big upcoming title was announced to be an Epic Store exclusive. It was just days ago that developer IO Interactive announced thatHitman 3will be exclusive to the Epic Game Storefor the first year of its release. WhileCrysis Remasteredfaced the usual backlash Epic exclusives receive,Hitman 3’s exclusivity has taken much of the attention as fans question content sharing between previousHitmantitles.
Crysis Remastered’s announcement as an Epic exclusive was as sudden as the rest of the news leading up to its release.Crysis Remasteredwas initially intended for a July release date which wasleaked through the Microsoft Storeas was the gameplay reveal trailer Crytek had been hyping. On the day of the reveal, Crytek announced that the game and release date had been pushed back due to fan backlash over the perceived poor quality shown in the leaked trailer. It was over a week later that Crytek confirmed that the Nintendo Switch version would keep the initial date.
The most recent confusion over the release date ofCrysis Remasteredcame just days ago when a PlayStation affiliated YouTube channel possibly spoiled a surprise launch. PlayStation Access gaveCrysis Remasteredan August 21 release datethrough its video series focusing on the weekly release lineup. This turned out to be an error as Crytek would go on to reveal the September 18 release date yesterday.
Prior to the reveal yesterday, there had been no announcement ofCrysis Remasteredbeing an Epic exclusive. This is why some have seen the announcement as sudden considering the month-long lead up of back and forth information. While some players may still hold the Epic exclusivity against the game, many are still eager to tackle theCrysisstress test once again.
Crysis Remasteredis available now for Switch and will release on September 18 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
