Atlus’1989NESadaptation ofFriday the 13this fairly controversial, remembered by some asone of the worst horror gamesof all time. Still, the nightmarishly difficult and infamously frustrating game holds a special place in the hearts of many long-time gamers.

The roof to the shiny red-and-black console features a pixelated version of Jason’s mask and the titleFriday the 13thin the franchise’s iconic font. The NES controllers have the same reflective black coating, with faint red highlights on the back. The face of one controller features a recreation of the 1989 game’s version of Jason’s mother’s partially mummified head. The grotesque shrine somehow manages to be creepy even when reduced to 8-bit graphics painted on lifeless plastic. The other controller, which the artist showed a particular fondness for, features a recreation ofFriday the 13th’sin-game map.
The custom NES consolealso plays sound effects when users press the Power and Reset buttons. Pressing the Power button plays various music and sound effects from the game. These include the title music, an 8-bit rendition ofFriday the 13thPart2’siconic theme, and Jason’s eerily distorted whispering. Meanwhile, the Reset button features three clips of Mrs. Voorhees’s disembodied voice encouraging Jason’s murderous spree. The console also comes with an easter egg hidden under the flip door. The console user is treated to a line of pixelated text reading, “Watch out…Jason’s still alive and stronger than before!!”
Custom Nes Guy created the beautifully crafted piece, and despite the name, he doesn’t limit himself to making custom NES consoles. From his Facebook page, enthusiasts can commissioncustom consoles, PCs, and controllers. Still, custom NES consoles are the artist’s primary focus. His pieces feature high-quality automotive paint, giving the items their impressive shine. He uploaded video clips showing hisFriday the 13thconsole to Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.

He even sold one of theTMNTconsoles to a musician whose group performed the songTurtle Powerfor the 1990 live-action movie. However, theFriday the 13thconsole is easily his best-received piece so far.
