Award-winning actress Cynthia Erivo will be producing and starring in the sci-fi filmBlink Speedin a new collaboration withNetflix.
Before theNetflixfilm, Erivo rose to stardom after playing the role of Celie in the Broadway musical adaptation ofThe Color Purple. She has since gone on to star in a slew of notable films and television shows includingBad Times at the El Royale,Harriet,The Outsider, andGenius. Erivo will have more exciting starring roles in the future, as she will star as the Blue Fairy inDisney’s upcomingPinocchioremake, as well as Elphaba in the film adaptation of the Broadway musicalWicked.

Deadline reports Erivo will produceBlink Speedalongside Matt Jackson, who has previously produced films likeAaron Sorkin’sThe Trial of the Chicago 7andMolly’s Game, as well as the upcoming Whitney Houston biopicI Wanna Dance With Somebody. Eric Brown, who wrote the original short story that the film is based on, will be writing the screenplay. Plot details are scarce, but Erivo will be playing a woman who gains a mysterious savant ability after a near-death experience.
