It looks like Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock might have a new friend based on a new photo from the set of Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney Plus revival seriesDaredevil: Born Again. The shot offers a brief glimpse at an unconfirmed character alongside Cox’s lawyer/superhero, and for once, the surprise isn’t just the idea of a lawyer superhero.Daredevil: Born Againhas already been making several changescompared to the original Netflix series that spawned this version of the character. While the new show is at least a revival of sorts, featuring Cox returning as the lead character, several notable changes have already come to light. For one, several mainstays from the previous series won’t return. This includes fan-favorites Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), who previously played significant roles in the story ofDaredevil.RELATED:Is Daredevil: Born Again A Reboot Or A Continuation? But it looks likeDaredevil: Born Againis wasting no time bringing in some new blood to mix things up. A new set photo released byPeoplenow reveals a currently unnamed character sharing a scene with Cox’s Matt Murdock in lawyer mode. The character is played by actress Nikki M. James (Severance). However, while nothing official has come out about her character, industry insiderJason Kane/Greatphaseseems pretty confident that she’ll be playing none other than Kirsten McDuffie from theDaredevilcomics. If so, this will be the character’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the comics,Kirsten is one of Daredevil’s love interests. But more importantly, one of her defining character aspects is that she more or less pieced together that Matt is Daredevil on her own. As the assistant district attorney, she spends much of her professional life working with Matt, which leads to her teasing him and trying to get him to admit he’s Daredevil. This friendship eventually turns romantic, and the two become romantic partners, even setting up their law practice together.

The series may feature a bigger focus on the law aspect of Matt’s life this time, withDaredevil: Born Againeven recruiting several lawyers for its writing room. So such a perspective shift could offer the opportunity for new stories that might not have worked in the Netflix series. The potential presence of Kirsten McDuffie is one such enticing possibility. But that doesn’t mean the superhero aspect will be neglected.

It’s clear that Marvel Studios has no intention of forgetting the action bits ofDaredevil, especially as evidenced by Matt’s hilarious appearance onShe-Hulk: Attorney at Lawand the upcomingreturn of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin inDaredevil: Born Again. So fans shouldn’t take this new info as an indication of a complete paradigm shift. But seeing new angles on an already beloved character will be interesting.

Daredevil: Born Againis scheduled to release on Disney Plus starting in the Spring of 2024.
