Summary

Dead By Daylightis full of unique killers who bring different play styles to their matches. Killers have lots of intricate mechanics that survivors need to be aware of, as the killer will have an advantage. Most killers inDead by Daylighthave workarounds to their abilities that make them easier to deal with, but many survivors do not know these tips.

Killers like the Hag have an easy counter to their traps, but survivors can risk losing a match if they are unaware of the easy counter. Killer counters can involve playing around the game’s mechanics, and it is not clear from a new player’s perspective.

Hag chasing survivor

6Traps

Killer: The Hag

The Hag is a dominant killer inDead by Daylightthat becomes challenging to face when they are running one ofher best killer builds. Hag’s traps allow her to keep pressure throughout the game and near hooked survivors. Despite how threatening her traps appear, there is a way players can ignore them.

Crouching over a Hag trap will not activate it nor alert her. Hag players may place traps in tight spots, but crouching over them is a better way to avoid her power. Survivors can also trigger traps while the Hag is carrying a survivor as she cannot teleport to her triggered trap.

Nurse idle indoor map

For solo survivors, it is a safe bet to assume the Hag has placed a few traps near a hooked survivor. Keeping an eye on the ground and crouching over traps will make safe unhooks much easier for a survivor team.

5Quiet & Distance

Killer: The Nurse

No killer is capable of striking fear into survivors like the Nurse does. The Nurse is incredibly difficult to face and completely changes the pace of the game and how survivors deal with killers. The Nurse is unrivaled at quickly ending chases and downing survivors.

The most critical aspect survivors need to remember when facing a nurse is to break the line of sight. Nurse killers will need to predict where survivors are without line of sight and this opens doors to escaping and confusing the killer. Breaking the line of sight and building distance is the goal.

Oni using power

Nurse players may anticipate survivors trying to build distance and will blink where they may be, so doubling back can throw her off.Choosing a quiet survivorwill make it harder for the Nurse to hear players and know their position.

4Avoid Looping

Killer: The Oni

When things go according to plan, Oni can easily down many survivors and end a game early if they are not careful. At the start of a match, Oni is a weak M1 killer until his power charges, so it is best to delay his power-up.

Survivors should prolong the first chase as much as possible by safely dropping pallets andavoiding risky loops. Once Oni is powered up, survivors need to change up their playstyle. Switching to a stealthy playstyle while Oni is using his power will waste it until he hopefully runs out of it.

Another tip is keeping distance from other survivors as Oni can down more than one survivor during his wrath mode.

3Cure Madness

Killer: The Doctor

The Doctor is a consistent killer who can keep pressure on all survivors throughout a match. Stealth against Doctor is difficult as his static blast will cause nearby survivors to scream and alert him. Players can hide in lockers to prevent their survivors from screaming.

Being aware ofthe Doctor’s best buildswill help survivors avoid triggering perks such as Discordance. During Madness Tier 3, survivors will get illusionary doctors near them, but the real Doctor can spot these hallucinations and guess the survivor’s real location.

Nemesis chasing leon

Finding a good spot to snap out of Tier 3 is essential, as the Doctor can easily ambush a poorly positioned survivor.

2Know The Zombies

Killer: The Nemesis

Nemesis is a fun killer to play against, but his zombies tend to cause problems for survivors. Survivors can get interrupted while repairing a generator if a zombie is too close to it. If a survivor has a flashlight, they can temporarily stun the zombie and buy enough time to finish the generator.

Nemesis can see if his zombies are paralyzed, as he can see their auras constantly. A commonperk Nemesis players useis Lethal Pursuer, and it works to reveal all survivor auras at the start of the game for 9 seconds. Survivors can fake heading in a specific direction to throw off the killer.

Trapper attacking dwight

Tentacle Strike is a great ability, but it has its downsides. Nemesis is temporarily slowed down while aiming his Tentacle Strike, allowing survivors to build distance if the killer uses this ability at the wrong time.

1It Takes Two

Killer: The Trapper

Many survivors struggle against the Trapper as he has massive snowball potential to down all survivors, especially if they are not coordinated. Survivors can designate one survivor to stalk Trapper and disarm all the traps he places down. This tactic only works onnewer trapper killers, as some add-ons and perk combos will make this approach much harder.

A safer tactic is to be on a map with the iridescent Red Twine add-on. Red Twine causes killer items, such as traps, to appear when using the map. The best counter to Trapper is running in pairs of two in case one survivor steps on a trap.

It is also best to avoid getting downed near the basement, as Trapper is an excellent killer for camping basement hooks.
