Magic builds inDemon’s Soulsmake the entire experience feel very different. Depending on how players specialize their character and what types of magic they pursue, they may be ranged offensive masters or defensive close ranged combatants. The divine magic in the game, called Miracles, tends to favor the latter pursuit, but players can still deal heavy damage with the right options. Some classes like the Priest and Temple Knight start with a heal spell and talisman, but other classes will need tofind a Talisman of Godand learn some spells before they can start casting Miracles.
There are a grand total of 12 Miracles inDemon’s Souls, far fewer than the 22 Magic Spells, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t effective builds that use Faith over Magic. Miracle users also benefit from requiring fewer stats, as the Faith stat handles Miracle scaling as well as Miracle Attunement slots whereas Magic users need both the Magic and Intelligence stats. By nature of how miracles work, most players will want to combine their use with another build so this efficiency in their stats makes sense. In order to get more miracles, players will need to buy them from one of two merchants in the game.

Disciple of God
The Disciple of God can be found in the Nexus at the very beginning of the gamer. Player’s don’t even need todefeat the Phalanx bossfirst, just head to the left side of the Nexus to find three NPCs mulling about. The one that sells Miracles is the central one sitting on the statue. The Disciple of God requires players to trade Souls for Miracles, meaning purchasing some may stall the rate at which players level. These Miracles are usually more than useful enough to justify this, so don’t be shy about purchasing a few.
Saint Urbain
The other merchant that can sell Miracles to players is Saint Urbain, but unlocking his services will be a bit more involved. First, players must reach the The Ritual Path (world 4-2) and progress until they meet a character named Patches the Hyena. He will show the player an area that supposedly houses great treasure and then kick them in. Once in this area, players mustdefeat a Black Phantom wielding an Uchigatanaand talk to Saint Urbain. He will thank the player and go back to the Nexus. Saint Urbain sells all spells that the Disciple of God does in addition to eight more spells obtained by trading Demon’s Souls with him.
