The latestDestiny 2hotfix is live after a lengthy period of server issues that affected players around the world, with version 7.0.0.3 bringing a fix for the broken Hunter Silkstrike super, among other things. While the fix hasn’t cleared up every issue thatDestiny 2players have been encountering over the past week, it does bring some crucial bug fixes aiming to smoothen out the experience for players attempting the day one raid on March 10.

Players across all platforms have reported a long list of technical issues throughout the past week sincethe launch ofDestiny 2: Lightfall, ranging from bugged armor mods to frequent game crashes on certain platforms. Only a portion of these problems has been sorted out by the developers so far, including the infamous Hunter Strand super that has been dealing twice as much damage to enemies than intended. Previously, the Silkstrike Hunter super allowed critical damage if foes were hit with the tip of the dart during attacks, though a bug causing the ability to dish out double the damage led to some Guardians using it to single-handedly dispose of certain bosses extremely quickly.

Bungie has a track record of eliminating such exploits almost immediately, so it’s no surprise that the super ability was brought back in line along with the first hotfix sinceDestiny 2’s latest expansion launched. Hotfix 7.0.0.3 has a noticeably small roster of patch notes, but the present changes come as a direct response to a few of the most pressingissues that fans have been pointing out sinceLightfall. Besides simply removing Silkstrike’s accidental damage buff, Bungie seems to have reworked the super to some extent by granting critical damage to the full length of the ability’s attacks while tuning the overall damage to compensate for the more easily-achieved critical hits. Additionally, the hotfix has fixed a number of crashes, quest-related issues, a problem causing armor mods to not function correctly, and more.

Though details regarding the changes to Silkstrike were somewhat vague in the patch notes, the mention of these changes has been a point of concern for some fans. Even with the super’s unintentional damage boost aside, many fans have praised the Silkstrike super and theother associated Hunter Strand abilitiesfor their utility and uniqueness. Losing the ability to deal precise critical damage with the super would certainly detract from the technique involved with using it, and many are worried that the developers' tweaks to the ability might quickly make it less useful than the other new super abilities.

There are still a number of new and remaining issues that fans are eager to see fixed, such as the damage bug with the Quicksilver Storm exotic auto rifle as well as performance and crashing issues which are particularly prominent on PC and PS5. While additional hotfixes likely aren’t far away, this update at least sets the table forthe Root of Nightmares day one raidwhich launches on March 10.
