WithDestiny 2fast approaching its fifteenth Season in August, The Witch Queen expansion in 2022, and Bungie’s 30th anniversary, there’s a lot to look forward to. Because Bungie’s 30th anniversary since being founded in 1991 is such a big date, there have been several rumors and leaks regarding what this will mean forDestiny 2. Most of these leaks allegeHalocontent will be coming to the game at some point. Some have hinted that other Bungie games could be featured as well, likeMarathonandMyth, but the general consensus seems to be that there will beHalo-inspired Exotics or armor sets and Legendary guns.
This is not confirmed, however, and the latest alleged leak is an expansion of a famous past leak where a bunch of details were disclosed onDestiny 2’s Season of the Chosen and Season of the Splicer, as well as about what Season 15 andThe Witch Queen expansionwould entail. The past leak did turn out to be correct in several instances, and it seemed like a genuine document rather than a fabricated one; the new leak, however, is said to be the rest of the document shown a few months back. While it does make a few points that sound plausible forDestiny 2’s near future, there are several inconsistencies in the document, making the alleged leak aboutHalocontent a bit sketchy.

Destiny 2’s Alleged Halo Crossover
According to the so-called leak, there is a presumed release date for this sort ofHalobundle on December 21, with the Anniversary Pack coming to the game as $20 paid content. There seems to be large PvP improvements on the way if this Anniversary Pack proves to be legit, with two returningDestinyCrucible mapsand two all-new ones coming toDestiny 2, and then also an exclusive game mode called “Hardware” where Guardians can dominate the Crucible with guns only. This would surely fix the current lack of new PvP content inDestiny 2, as the last Crucible maps were added back in Shadowkeep - over 650 days ago.
The leak mentions a new dungeon coming toDestiny 2, where players will be able to obtain returningDestinyweapons. As for new weapons, the leak suggests that there will beExotic weapons inspired byHalo- namely, a heavy sniper rifle and a weapon based onHalo’s gravity hammer. The document states that there will also be Legendary weapons inspired byHalo: Combat Evolved, with them being aDestiny 2version of the battle rifle and magnum gun, and then more from the studio’s other games. There also seems to be another Exotic to be obtained, as the document mentions a new area called “The Plains of the Nine,” where players will supposedly be able to obtain strange coins to then get the Gjallarhorn from Xur.
Weapons don’t seem to be the only focus here, as there are allegedly plans to haveHalo-inspired armor sets for all three Guardian classes as well, with the Titan not having a Master Chief-inspired set because it would be too on the nose. Hunters will seemingly get an armor set based onHalo 3: ODST, which admittedly would fit the class' usual apparel. Titans will instead get an armor based on that of the Spartans inHalo: Reach, with a bulkier look that better suits this class. Lastly, the armor set for the Warlocks appears to be based on the look for the Covenant’s Arbiters.

Why Destiny 2’s Halo Crossover Seems Unlikely to Happen
The leak should be taken with a grain of salt becauseDestiny 2is not new to this sort of thing, and while some leaks did come true, at least in part, many others were eventually deemed fake. Furthermore, because the so-called leak is contradicting some older statements and repeating others, its veracity seems dubious. In fact, it was visibly written during Season 12, back whenPresagehadn’t released, but the alleged leak describes a few things as “Presage-level,” as if the secret mission was already in the game and acclaimed by players at the time of writing.
This doesn’t mean that there is no chance for aHalocrossover event, and admittedly it would make a lot of sense for that to be tied to Bungie’s anniversary, but there are other things to be considered. For starters, while Bungie did create theHalofranchise, the rights always belonged to Microsoft as part of their contract. Bungie wanted to become an independent company and game developer studio, which could only be achieved by giving up on the rights toHaloand leaving it to Microsoft. While the companies didn’t work together after they split, it could still be possible for them to be on good enough terms for Microsoft to allow Bungie to useHalo-inspired gear inDestiny 2.
It should also be noted thatDestiny 2is a lore-heavy game, where the story told with its expansions and seasonal arcs is immersive and realistic. While it would very cool and interesting to have aHalocrossover eventto some degree, it would also need to fit the carefully curated narrative and setting inDestiny 2. The references would need to be subtle rather than blatant, with items or locations inspired byHaloor other Bungie games being uncannily fit in the world ofDestiny 2.
Overall, while manyDestiny 2players would love for this leak to be true - at least in regards to the alleged Anniversary Pack andHalocrossover - the possibility of this actually happening seems slim. That said, whether this will happen is still up in the air at this point, and players will have to wait and see for a little longer still - at least until theAugust 24 Witch Queen showcase.
