Destiny 2has been in a rough spot for a long time now, and while some of Lightfall’s issues can’t be fixed and the community’s sentiment can’t change overnight, Bungie seems to be making steps in the right direction to win fans back. A good start wasDestiny 2’s new Skimmer vehicle, which not only makes for a different aesthetic compared to all Sparrows, but also provides extra functionalities by making air control easier and more accessible. The upgrade to the Prophecy Dungeon also helped, and now players will be getting a new content update for free with Into The Light on April 9 - which may very well be a game-changer on three major fronts.
Very little is officially known about Into The Light and what it will entail, but Bungie recently stated there will be three separate livestreams once a week detailing exactly what this new piece ofDestiny 2content is all about. The first one took place on March 19, and while it confirmed some major changes coming to the game, some of this is still speculation. However, it’s very clear that the update is headed in the right direction.

Destiny 2’s Onslaught Mode Offers New Horde Gameplay
A strange yet interesting element of the key art is the fact that two turrets are depicted, and they look a bit like friendly Scorpion turrets. This led many to believe that a horde mode was on the way, as so far, turrets have never truly been a majorgameplay element ofDestiny 2. This was confirmed with the reveal of the new onslaught mode, signaling a big turning point for the looter shooter.
Destiny 2’s Last City and Pyramid Ships Finally Come into Play
Destiny 2’s Pyramid Shipshave been sitting in the background for a long time, and many fans speculated they would finally gain relevance with Lightfall, but this didn’t happen. Now, this long-dormant Chekov’s Gun will fire withDestiny 2’s Into The Light. This will be a massive development story-wise, as there has never been a full-blown invasion of the city so far, outside of some more contained issues like the Vex assault in Season of the Splicer. This too could be a big game-changer for the title, and it could be another lifeline forDestiny 2. Details remain to be seen, but it sounds perfect on paper.
Old Content Might Still Be on the Way Too
While unconfirmed,Destiny 2’s Into The Light leakspoint to old content coming out of the Destiny Content Vault, although it’s unclear which parts of the game would come back. Current rumors favor a series of weekly releases each tied to a vaulted planet or piece of content, starting when the update releases on April 9. The key art for Into The Light seems to corroborate such theories since it shows three Guardians wielding familiar weapons - namely, the Hunter is using a hand cannon similar to Midnight Coup and the Warlock a pulse rifle akin to Blast Furnace. More information will be confirmed in the reward weapons stream next week, but it does seem a couple of guns, namely Midnight Coup and Hung Jury, are set to return after this stream.
Why Bringing Back The Leviathan Raid and Black Armory Would Set a Good Precedent
The former is from the Leviathan Raid inDestiny 2’s early days, whereas the latter is from the Black Armory period, which arguably had some of the best guns in the game, even though they are all gone now. Bringing back sections of the Leviathan Raid or even some of the puzzles andForges from Black Armorycould be a game-changer both for the content and the weapons, something that the game desperately needs. And with what was seen during the stream, it seems that at least some of this content is coming back.
