ThoughDiablo 4is a more refined game at release compared toDiablo 3during its troubled launch, players do miss one of its many convenient features in the new Blizzard title. From thedisappointing treasure goblins inDiablo 4, to the way Legendary Powers work through the Aspect system, there are many examples where fans feelDiablo 3had the better approach. Thankfully, the developers have shown during the Campfire Chat that they’re willing to listen to theDiablocommunity, and acquiesce to most of their demands.
WithDiablo 4’s inaugural season commencing in mid-July, players will receive the first batch of fixes aimed at bettering the game. Though players are expected to makenew characters for everyDiablo 4season, some are hopeful that Blizzard will reconsider implementing the Rebirth feature fromDiablo 3. The combat inDiablo 4is certainly a standout, with many fans considering it as the perfect balance between the weightiness ofDiablo 2, and the power fantasy ofDiablo 3. Its biggest issue remains a lack of convenience in the systems that surround the moment-to-moment gameplay.

A decent way to increase convenience would be to take a look at another beloved feature fromDiablo 3. Delling_Rembran opened a simple thread on the officialDiablo 4subreddit, and it showed thatDiablo 4players sorely miss the loot-collecting pets from the previous game. The initial iteration of this feature came in the form of the Puzzle Ring, which gave players a treasure goblin minion to collect trash items and gold off the ground, before spitting it up as a Rare or Legendary. It has since evolved to feature many different pets, and has become a staple ofDiablo 3’s endgame.
Though there is an argument to be made that making a game too convenient strips away some of its appeal, the lack of manyquality-of-life features inDiablo 4gives the impression that its gameplay systems clash against one another instead of working in harmony. Proposed concepts such as expanding the Codex of Power, implementing a gem bag, and even adding loot pets would help in streamliningDiablo 4without taking away its gameplay loop.
Ultimately,Diablo 4being a live service title may prove to be its biggest benefit in the long run, as the developers will be provided with enough resources to evolve the game into the ultimateDiabloexperience. Many players would agree that the potential is certainly there, and withtwoDiablo 4expansionson the way, there are plenty of directions for growth.
Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
