ThoughDragon’s Dogma 2launched to rave reviews, one feature hascaused something of a stirwithin the game’s community. As with many games published by Capcom in recent years,Dragon’s Dogma 2offers a series of microtransactions that can help players out in-game. These aren’t cosmetic items as such,Dragon’s Dogma 2MTX includes useful items like Portcrystals, Camping equipment, Rift Crystals, and more.
These items aren’t exclusive to theDD2microtransactions shop, though. In fact, almostevery single thing you’re able to buyon the DLC shop can be earned in-game – and most of them don’t even take that much time to get. Avoid purchasing these fiveDragon’s Dogma 2microtransactions because they can either be found very easily in-game or don’t offer a powerful enough effect to warrant a real-money purchase.

5Art of Metamorphosis
The Art of Metamorphosis item allows the Arisen to customize their own, or a Pawn’s, appearance. It can be used at any barber shop, but instead of offering you a simple haircut, Art of Metamorphosis allows you toessentially return to the character creator.
In theDragon’s Dogma 2microtransaction shop, Art of Metamorphosis costs $1.99 and is a single-use item, but it’s also available relatively early in the game.

Head to the Pawn Guild to purchase one for 10,000 Gold or 500 RC. In the launch version of the game, there were only two of these available – but Capcom has revealed that a future patch will increase the inventory from 2 to 99 at these vendors. It’s an easy item to get and though it costs a relatively large sum of currency, it’s not something that you’ll be doing very often.
4Makeshift Gaol Key
The Makeshift Gaol Key essentially allows the Arisen to quickly escape from prison if they get arrested and sent to jail for any reason. You’ll still have to escape on your own, but using a Makeshift Gaol Key is a lot easier on the wallet than bribing the guard.
Makeshift Gaol Key is available in theDragon’s Dogma 2MTX store for $0.99, but they are remarkably easy to get. In fact, players are practicallygivenone when they are sent to the Gaol for the first time. There should be a Makeshift Gaol Key somewhere in your cell the first time you get arrested.

To get more Makeshift Gaol Keys, check various Vendor inventories – one early vendor named Dudley can be found in Melve. It sells for around 3000 Gold, which is a palty sum once you area few hours into the game.
3Wakestone
Wakestones are the Arisen’s primary means of coming back to life. These items can be used to revive oneself, bring dead NPCs back to life, and are rarely required to complete Quests. Wakestones are formed automatically in your inventory upon collecting three Wakestone Shards, whichcan be sourced from a variety of places– but especially from completing Pawn Quests.
There are a few Wakestones in the store labeled with letters A through E, for a total of five separate purchases of $0.99, but this signals that these are one-time purchases. In-game, it’s easy to get wakestones,Dragon’s Dogma 2players just have to complete quests, open chests, and explore to their very best. These aren’t worth purchasing due to how frequently players are able to get them in-game.

2Portcrystal
Portcrystals make up the network that functions asDragon’s Dogma 2’s fast travel system. There are afew Portcrystals spread outthroughout the world by default, almost exclusively in major cities and just outside major settlements. But the Arisen can also place some of their own throughout the world to set up custom fast travel points.
These are relatively limited in number in-game, and you must still consume a separate Ferrystone to travel to these custom Portcrystal points. But half of the fun ofDragon’s Dogma 2is the sense of adventure and all the random events that occur going from point A to point B – plus the incredible variety of Vocations (andVocations that combine them all) make for some great combat moments.

The Portcrystal is $2.99 in theDragon’s Dogma 2microtransaction shop, but because they can be acquired very easily in-game, and because a major highlight of the game is the journey across long distances, avoid purchasing this item.
1Explorer’s Camping Kit
The Explorer’s Camping Kit is one of many reusable Camping Kits that are required for the Arisen and their party to rest out in the wilderness. The Explorer’s Camping Kit is unique because it is lightweight at just 5.5 weight, though it doesn’t offer any other benefits. With an Explorer’s Camping Kit, you may still get attacked during the night – and lose the Camping Kit.
The Explorer’s Camping Kit is $2.99 on theDD2MTX store, and will cost a few thousand Gold if purchased from a vendor in-game. But though vendor items are added to your inventory, all items in theDragon’s Dogma 2microtransaction storeare sent to your Storage– if you log out in the wild, purchase a Camping Kit, and log back in, your party won’t be able to camp until they retrieve the kitfrom a nearby settlement.

These items are plentiful inDragon’s Dogma 2, they don’t cost a lot of Gold, and don’t guarantee a safe night at a campsite like some other specialty Camping Supplies in the game. If these other kits were available for purchase, they might be more useful, but as it stands a low-weight standard Camping Kit isn’t worth the real-money purchase.
