What Is Dragonsplague in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Dragonsplague is a sickness that will only affect yourDragon’s Dogma 2Pawns. The Arisen cannot contract this affliction, but it’s nonetheless one that you should pay attention to.

Though the full list of things that cause Dragonsplague isn’t fully known, there are two things that appear to spread the infection: killing Drakes, and hiring a Pawn that is afflicted with Dragonsplague. Killing Drakes appears to have a chance to give one of yourDragon’s Dogma 2Pawns Dragonsplague, though the specifics aren’t yet clear.

And to make things even worse, Dragonsplague can be shared throughout a party – even through Pawns hired from the Rift. If any of your Pawns has Dragonsplague when you go to Rest at an Inn (or your home),something calamitous happens.

How To Prevent Dragonsplague: Pawn Symptoms

Look For The Signs, And Don’t Be Afraid To Get Brutal

The first time you hire a Pawn with Dragonsplague, or the first time one of your Pawns contracts it, you should get a unique pop-up explanation of how the Dragonsplague system works – and what to watch out for. When it comes to how to tell which Pawns have Dragonaplgue, there are four major signs.

After Dragonsplague has entered your party through a Pawn, it can spread, and may even attach itself to your Main Pawn. If any of yourPawns start to exhibit the signsof Dragonsplague, don’t hesitate to Dismiss them – or kill them. Dismissing a Hired Pawn is enough to get rid of Dragonsplague inDragon’s Dogma 2from your party, but to rid it from a Pawn completely, you will have to kill them.

If your Main Pawn has Dragonsplague, youmustthrow them off a cliff or find some other way to kill them as they can’t be dismissed. You can resummon your Main Pawn for free at any Riftstone, but Hired Pawns are gone for good until re-hired for an RC cost.

The best practice to prevent Dragonsplague from ever triggering is to Dismiss all Extra Pawns before going to Rest for the night, and to kill your Main Pawn every night before going to bed. If you are confident that your Main Pawn is not infected, they don’t have to be culled, but you must be absolutely certain. It’s usually best to dismiss Hired Pawns every night and re-hire new ones that are more suited for the day’s quests, anyway.

What To Do If A Dragonsplagued Pawn Kills Everyone

First Of All – Don’t Panic. There Is Aught You Can Do, Arisen.

If you fail to catch the signs of Dragonsplague inDragon’s Dogma 2, and go to rest at an Inn, a unique cutscene will play out as you sleep. The Pawn with Dragonsplague will appear in this cutscene as it completely takes them over, and you will wake up to find that a Calamity has happened. Everyone in the settlement that you rested in – city, village, and everything in betweenthat isn’t Camping – will be dead by that Pawn’s hand.

A player’s first instinct might be to turn off the game and never play again, especially if this happens in a major city like Vernworth. But despite how bad it might look, it’s not completely over. If the Arisen just waits for about a week, everything will be practically back to normal. All major Quest and Side Quest NPCs will respawn, as well as all Vendors and other important NPCs.

If the cutscene triggers, find a nearby bench, and Doze Off about 28 times to make the week go by quickly. Once the seven days are up, the settlement should be hustling and bustling just as before.

If players just need to revive one NPC for a quick quest, it’s possible to use aWakestoneon them. However, this is a lot less efficient forDD2players than simply resting or waiting the week away.
