Edens Zerois a supernatural space adventure following Shiki Granbell’s journey across the universe in search of the Goddess of the Cosmos, in a world where humanity and machinery are virtually indistinguishable. After managing to reassemble the Four Shining Stars, the team is finally ready to take their mission seriously; the anime adaptation just needed some time to catch up.
Thankfully, Season 2 is finally ready to join the ShounenSpring 2023 line-upwith J.C.Staff at the wheel, adding some fresh faces to the mix as a new enemy enters the scene because, apparently, Shiki’s job as the prospective replacement Demon King isn’t hard enough already.

The Elemental 4 Easter Eggs
Although the official Season 2 trailer has yet to be translated, certain tell-tale signs can be analyzed in the interim. Four new characters stand out in particular, giving off strong villainous vibes from their base of operations, the sinter space fortress, Belial Gore. They are eachfueled by an elemental force, with the corresponding Ether Gear, led by the infamousDrakken Joe, aka the Dark Alchemist, who has already caused some trouble for the Edens Zero crew.
Fie(Toshiki Masuda)wields fire and appears to favor guns as his weapon-of-choice, due to the, ahem, firepower. The only villainess of the group,Sylph(Rumi Okubo),takes ownership of the windandseemingly fits the Kuudere trope.Laguna(Taku Yashiro)works with water and loves a good crybaby, as their tears add more ammunition to his arsenal. Lastly,Daichiinfluences the earth, with a wide range of options including natural aspects such as trees and metals.

The Edens Crew
According to the teaser trailer, the Four Shining Starsseemingly remain on board the Edens Zero when the crew initially takes on Belial Gore, save for Homura Kôgetsu, who joins Shiki, Rebecca, Happy, and Weisz Steiner on their mission into the hostile territory. One group confronts the enemy while the other safeguards the Edens Zero; however, the girls will undoubtedly get involved if and when the situation becomes dire. Shiki and Rebecca appear to have drawn the short straws and find themselves in hot water, which would be the perfect opportunity for the B-Cuber to show the world what she is really capable of.
Edens Zero’s Past, Present, and Future
Sadly, the mastermind behindEdens Zero, Yūshi Suzuki (who also worked onFairy TailandTsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy) lost his life not long after Season 1’s debut, for reasons which have yet to be disclosed. Since then, Mitsutaka Hirota (Marvel Future AvengersandRent-A-Girlfriend) has taken over the scriptwriting duties, while Yurika Sako (One Punch ManandFood Wars!) tackles the character designs. After two years of patiently waiting, Shiki is due to make a come-back on1 April 2023(onNTVin Japan) and will likely continue to stream onNetflix, which exclusively aired Season 1. There was only a four-month waiting period for the initial international release, so hopefully, Season 2 will be available sometime during the 2023 Summer season.
