Elden Ringallows players to create a number of builds to make progress through the Lands Between, with many different playstyles being viable. Regardless of the build, though, players usually summon a Mimic when things get too tough - and oneElden Ringfan has found a strategy to make them even more useful.
To use one ofElden Ring’s Mimics, players will need to head to Night’s Sacred Ground in Nokron, opening a chest behind one of the imp statue doors. Widely viewed as the strongest Summon Ashes in the game, Mimics work exactly like the Mimic Tear boss battle. They will copy player loadouts as closely as possible, with the AI then using the items that gamers have equipped. Essentially, players can make two copies of themselves, drawing the attention of bosses and making for far easier encounters.

Even with a Mimic ready to go, though, the boss battle against Malenia will still prove to be an incredible challenge for most players. Widely regarded as one ofFromSoftware’s most difficult bossesever, the two-phase fight provides an incredible challenge due to Malenia’s life steal ability and her almost unavoidable Waterfowl Dance. However, a Redditor named tuskedandconfused has found a way to make their Mimic constantly stun Malenia, leaving her open to attack. To do this, players need the Jar Cannon.
Elden Ring’s Jar Cannonfunctions exactly like one would expect. Despite its slow reload speed, its projectiles dish out high damage and can stun regular-sized enemies. Players who have not done so may want to fight Demi-Human Queen Margot in Volcano Cave soon, as tuskedandconfused shows how useful this weapon can be when wielded by a Mimic. The footage sees the Redditor drawing the attention of Malenia, with the Mimic firing the Cannon at the Blade of Miquella.
Whenever a shot hits Malenia, she is stunned and knocked to the ground, giving tuskedandconfused the opportunity to run up to her and land a few hits. Once she gets back up, the Redditor focuses entirely on drawing her attention, dodging hits until the Cannon-wielding Mimic stuns her once again. The clip shows the Redditor beating Malenia with this clever strategy, comparing their summoned ally to aMarine from theHaloseries. For those that have struggled against this particular boss, seeing her leap up in the air for an attack only to be knocked down to the ground by a cannon shot should prove to be very satisfying.
Alongside almost 2,000 upvotes, players were quick to praise the Redditor for sharing their smart approach. While the legendaryLet Me Solo Hermay be one way to make Malenia easier to fight, those that want to take her down offline might want to hand their Mimics a cannon.
Elden Ringis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
