Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis certainly great fun, both for long time fans of the series and newcomers, but many are finding that they are running out of things to do. For the casual player, there is certainly more than enough content, but some of the more hardcore players are already done with most everything the game has to offer. Naturally, those players are looking ahead and wondering what will be next. Aside from numerous leaks and rumors, there is actually some foundation within the game itself pointing towards aDragon Ball Superexpansion of some kind. Since there is still no concrete information onDBZ: Kakarot’s season pass, speculation is all that fans can go off.
For those unaware,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotcovers the entire story ofDragon Ball Zand has numerous original sub-stories which expand the lore ofDragon Ball Zslightly, and some of them hint towards a possible DLC expansion or sequel. Fans' attention is set on some kind of DLC becauseDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s post game is relatively empty, leaving much to be desired in terms of replayability. Still, players can hold out hope, as these moments in the game seem to hint at the possibility of continuing the story intoDragon Ball Super.

Android 17
In the originalDragon Ball Zanime, Android 17 is mostly absent after he isrevived by Shenronat the end of the Cell Saga. The only appearance he makes after this is during Goku’s final spirit bomb against Kid Buu, in which he offers up some of his energy to the Saiyan, just like he did inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot.Dragon Ball Superreintroduces Android 17 as a park ranger protecting an island from poachers, and eventually makes him a central member of the cast for the tournament of power. For this reason, it is somewhat surprising to see a sub-story involving Future Trunks in which the Saiyan meets Android 17 in the Northern Mountains region. Android 17 reveals that he is now a park ranger, hinting at his role inSuper, much to Future Trunks' surprise.
Frieza
Although the Earth’s dragon balls allow the player to bring back a host of previously defeated villains like Nappa, The Ginyu Force, and Babidi’s minions, completing the Trial of Wisdom on Namek allows Goku to wish back more powerful villains, namely Frieza, Perfect Cell, and Dabura. While fighting Frieza again, Goku easily overpowers the emperor, which leads Frieza to make an interesting comment. Frieza states that if he were to train, he could easily overpower Goku, who currently has access to theSuper Saiyan 3 transformation. This could be a reference toDragon Ball Super, in which training for four months allows him to fight on par with Super Saiyan Blue Goku, albeit only for a while. After all, it’s canonical that Frieza never trained and was just naturally as powerful as he was.
Vegeta
Once the player gets to the Buu Saga, they gain access to Adult Gohan, and one of the first things the player does as Gohan is play baseball against his classmate Sharpner. While this moment is a direct reference to the episode ofDragon Ball Zin which Gohan does exactly that, there is another aspect to the homerun challenge which could be a reference toDragon Ball Super. The player can bat against Sharpner, Yamcha, and Android 18, but the final and most difficult pitcher is Vegeta. This could be referencing the episode ofDragon Ball Superin which Universe 6 and Universe 7 engage in a game of baseball, and the most iconic moment of this episode might be whenVegeta goes Super Saiyan Blueand pitches a ball to Super Saiyan Blue Goku.
These are just a few references, and it’s likely that more hide within dialogue and the Z Encyclopedia. Overall, the reception ofDragon Ball Z: Kakarothas been overwhelmingly positive, so it would be foolish of Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2 not to keep working with this style of game, so some kind ofDragon Ball Z: KakarotstyleDragon Ball Supergame seems more than likely, as evidenced by these references.
