Nvidia GeForce Now Leak Mentions Final Fantasy 9 Remake
In September 2021, someone managed todatamine the GeForce Now serviceand discovered a list of game names, many of them unreleased and unannounced.Final Fantasy 9 Remakewas among the games listed. At first, the list wasn’t taken too seriously, but slowly and surely, some of the listed games were released.
From Square Enix, aChrono Crossremaster andKingdom Hearts 4were listed. Sure enough, the Chrono Cross remaster was released in 2022. To the surprise of many, Kingdown Hearts 4 was announced in April 2022. There is no release date for the game yet, but it is suspected thatKingdom Hearts 4will launch in the latter half of 2025.

Midori, a reliable leaker, has given severalupdates regardingFinal Fantasy 9 Remake. According to the leaker, the game has suffered a delay. This is due to Square Enix delegating the remake to an external studio and not being happy with the results. Consequently, the project was moved to another studio, though it’s not clear when the switch occurred.
Despite this, the leaker claims the remake is far along in development as of mid-2024. Midori also claims that, unlike prior remakes,Final Fantasy 9 Remakewon’t be a PlayStation exclusive and will enjoy a multi-platform release. There is a slight chance players may see FF9 at today’sXbox Showcase, as the leaker asserts that Square Enix will have a presence at the event.
Though players should have their hopes too high, today may be the date players finally get a glimpse of the heavily rumored remake. However, it appears that there will still be a long wait for the game to release, and players should not expect it to launch in 2024.
