Fortnitehas made massive changes with Season 2, including addingSecret Villain Lairsand loads of crossover events. But there also seem to have been some negative changes made without letting the community know; it looks like it may have nerfed the pump shotguns without a word.
While the second season ofFortnitehas changed everything from the look of the island toadding sidegrading toFortniteweapons, all of the changes to the game have been made public as they are going live. Epic Games has always been pretty up front with nerfs and changes to its number one hit, even if the changes have been unpopular, like the SBMM changes. So it is a surprise that someFortnitefans think that Epic would nerf the shotgun without letting fans know.

The pump shotguns, which have been massively unreliable historically, have made some Reddit fans ofFortnitequestion whether or not Epic changed them. One eagle-eyed fan, Reddit user HirsiHD, noticed that the pump shotguns no longer deal damage in increments of ten. The damage done by each pellet, which has always been divisible by ten, is now showing up in odd numbers.
The difference between head shots and body shots may also have been tinkered with, as some video evidence from YouTube showed. The hitboxes around the face seem to have been altered; check out the video below to see it. But hitting a player in the chin, slightly above the head, and in the center of the face all seem to do different amounts of damage. It is abig change to the pump shotgun, just like the one Epic made to them back in late 2018.
WhileFortnitehasn’t been hounded by a ton of glitches, with theexception of that Emote glitchback in February, this may be just a glitch in the game that has altered the shotgun. Without any hints that Epic was planning to change the finicky pump shotguns, it seems unlikely they would just nerf it without a single word.
However, without seeing the changes made with the patch notes, players won’t know the full changes to the weapon or if they were intentional. It could be that the changes to the pump shotgun were completely unintentional and were the result of changing something else somewhere. Perhaps it’s a unforeseen consequence of all thequality of life changes Epic has been making to Fortniteover the past few months.
