An iconic mission inBlack Opsis where players ride a high-powered motorcycle with Resnov in an epic conclusion to the Vorkuta prison escape; the same rush one gets when mowing down enemies with a vehicle inFar Crygames. At the climax ofBlack Ops,the players lay siege against a ship headed to Cuba. Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro is also mentioned in the game, givingBlack Opssome heavy uprising tones.

Rustis a first-personsurvivalgame where players start off with nothing. Not even clothes. InRust,players loot stuff and scraps they find in the world, craft weapons, make clothes and weapons for themselves, and build a shelter. It’s basicallyMinecraft’s16-year-old cousin.

WithFar Cry 6looking to be a promising addition to the FPS market, it’s worth looking at one of the staples in the genre,Half-Life 2.This Valve-produced game is anadventure puzzle platformerthat allows players to pick up anything and everything in the world to use as weapons, or as leverage in a sticky situation.Half-Life 2’sworld is filled with non-stationary set pieces that serve as more than backdrops.
They are actual props players can pick up, allowing them limitless creativity when approaching puzzles. Despite there being a ton of weapons in the game, players can do much with just a crowbar. The fun-loving group of Dedsec best resembles the ambitious guerilla groups acrossFar Crygames with a similar goal in their respective games– to overthrow the powerful governing body. LikeFar Cry 6,co-op is also possible inWatch Dogs 2,emulating a very similar experience while players wait for the game to come out.
ThoughRed Dead Redemption 2is intended to be more of anopen-world adventure game, there’s no denying that the life-like mechanics ofRDR2makes for an unparalleled survival game experience as well. Unlike the instant crafting, looting, and upgrading most games have,RDR2implements realistic and tedious animations that make looting enemies after a bloody massacre feels like a chore on its own.
Even harvesting animal parts greets players with a glorious skinning animation. Hunger and temperature are huge player drawbacks inRDR2,and players must combat it by hunting or looting for food and wearing appropriate winter gear. PlayingRDR2gives an overkill glimpse of what survival mechanicsFar Cry 6may implement.
3Battlefield 1
Another staple in the FPS market,Battlefield 1is a massively multiplayer game set inWW1, deep in the trenches and crossfire. A central element of theBattlefieldgames is its large open maps and various weaponized vehicles that can turn the tides of the battle. Much like how the vehicles in theFar Crygames can slaughter hordes of enemies before being shot to a smoking pulp.
Far Cryprides itself on vehicular chaos in its games that allows players to ride shotgun with a shotgun. In that regard,Battlefield1is a game that implements weaponized vehicles, along with a realistic first-person perspective. This EA game can be played while waiting forFar Cry 6’srelease.
2Far Cry 3
While waiting forFar Cry 6,the obvious best game to play would be one of theFar Crygames.Far Cry 3is arguably the best game in the franchise due to its passionate and moving villain, Vaas Montenegro. This, coupled with the lost castaway experience the game provides along with the long tedious climb to become the island’smost powerfulwarrior, is the definition of theFar Cryformula.

It isFar Cry 3that has blessed the gaming industry with one of the most iconic scenes in gaming – Vaas' insanity speech. However, given the constantly changing formula of the franchise, playing justFar Cry 3isn’t enough to fully embrace the essence ofFar Cry.

Far Cry 5takes place in rural America; particularly Hope County, Montanna. A religious cult has taken over the area and is inducting the locals by force and oppression. ThoughFar Cry 6seems to resembleFar Cry 4better since both their stories involve a dictator as themain villain,Far Cry 5is more similar to the promising sequel in terms of gameplay mechanics.
Far Cry 5allows players to fully customize their character, along with the option for various companions to aid the players in the revolution. In addition, vehicles are more on-demand inFC5than they are inFC4.This game is also miles different fromFar Cry 3,so it’s worth trying them both in anticipation of the sixth main installment.
