Heavensturn is theFinal Fantasy 14equivalentfor New Year’s Day. Each year,Final Fantasy 14holds an in-game event around this time, offering a brief-but-charming questline and cosmetic rewards inspired by the Chinese Zodiac.
For the Year of the Dragon in 2024,Final Fantasy 14is bringing back an unexpected favorite character to aid in the event. Seiryu, the serpent-like dragon Auspice and member of the Four Lords, will be a part of this year’s quest. According to theFF14special site for the event, players can begin this event at level 15 by picking up the quest, To Be a Mascot, from Ryu Metsuke, located at the Aftcastle in Limsa Lominsa’s Upper Decks, from December 31 through January 15. Completing this quest rewards players with Ryunosuke, an adorable baby chocobo minion wearing a dragon costume.
When Does the Heavensturn Event Start in FF14?
Players are excited to see Seiryu come back in next year’s Heavensturn event. The austereFinal Fantasy 14bossis a fan favorite, and as a dragon inspired by Chinese myth, he is a perfect pick for Heavensturn. Players will have to see how his cameo plays out once the event goes live, but given the history of past Heavensturns, it will probably be both comical and touching.
This event is only the first of many big things forFinal Fantasy 14in 2024. TheDawntrailexpansion is coming toFinal Fantasy 14next summer, and the critically-acclaimed MMORPG is getting an Xbox version before then. January 7 is also the start of the third and final Fan Festival in Japan, which will give players another look at some new features coming inDawntrail, possibly including thesecond new job in theFinal Fantasy 14expansion, a playable race, and a release date.
Players still have a few days left to complete theStarlight Celebration event inFinal Fantasy 14before Heavensturn begins. The Christmas-themed quest runs until December 31, after which it will be replaced by the New Year’s celebration. Fans can visit the Mih Khetto Amphitheatre in Gridania once they reach level 15, complete a short and heartfelt questline, and receive a dyeable Santa Claus outfit that can be glamoured by anyFinal Fantasy 14job.
