Certain aspects ofGenshin Impacthave remained untouched since the launch of the game, and players especially feel the Starglitter shop could use a much-needed revamp. While there’s much to be said about the means of obtainingcharacters inGenshin Impactpast the starter team of Amber, Kaeya, and Lisa, many fans have simply accepted the gacha system as part of the genre. Those who pursueGenshin Impactas a story adventure with the occasional co-op can easily complete the content with starters, but it’s not a particularly satisfying experience.
When players receive a duplicate character through the Wish system, that character gets a constellation upgrade.Constellations inGenshin Impactare important passives that can be a real game-changer for certain characters such as Faruzan at C6 or Eula at C2. Given the abysmally low odds of obtaining the starters through Wishes, HoYoverse offers players the option to purchase them outright for Masterless Starglitter, allowing those with patience (or deep pockets) to upgrade their Lisa all the way to C6.

While wishing for 5-Star characters duringGenshin Impact’s banner eventsoffers fair protection against bad luck, 4-Star characters aren’t equipped with the same luxury. Most recently, many players have complained that it often took them over two hundred pulls to obtain the popular Kaveh during the banner events in Update 3.6. This has prompted fans such as reireireddit to critique what they feel has been a severely neglected part ofGenshin Impact: the Starglitter shop.
With its ever-growing roster of characters, players feelGenshin Impacthas outgrown the systems it put into place at launch. The sheer number of 4-Stars has made upgrading them to C6 much harder than it used to be, and though the game has remained insanely profitable for HoYoverse, fans are hoping that the developers will consider expanding on the Masterless Starglitter character rotation. For example: Noelle, Xiangling, and Collei are starter characters in all but name, as new players are guaranteed to obtain them early on. They offer access to the Polearm fighting style, as well as Geo andDendro reactionsindependently of the Traveler’s chosen element.
However, the community remains skeptical on whether HoYoverse will listen to player feedback, as the company has earned a reputation of mostly focusing on new content when it comes toGenshin Impact, with many quality-of-life changes and innovations finding their way toHonkai: Star Railinstead. Though adding old 4-Star characters to the Starglitter shop would be greatly appreciated byGenshin Impactfans, all signs point that Update 4.0 (and beyond) will feature triple character banners, a shorter banner cycle, or some combination of the two. While it won’t completely eliminate the problem that players have with 4-Stars, it should reduce the wait-time for featured characters by a significant margin.
Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
