God of War Ragnarokis one of the year’s most highly-anticipated video games and one that fans still know very little about despite being planned for release in 2022. While fans await another glimpse at the game and news of a release date, they could be excited to hear that Ryan Hurst, the voice actor for Thor, has stated that his voiceover work inGod of War Ragnarokis now complete.

Since its initial reveal trailer in the fall of 2021, news surroundingGod of War Ragnarokhas been quiet despite its slated 2022 release year.God of War Ragnarok’smost recent updatecame from a video posted by Cory Barlog on social media, promising that Kratos’s next adventure will be something special but remained vague. Given the current volatile state of video game release dates, many fans remain skeptical aboutRagnarok’s planned 2022 launch. However, Ryan Hurst’s recent update may give fans hope that Santa Monica Studios will deliver the game this year after all.

During an interview panel at Comic Con Revolution 2022, Hurst was asked about projects he has been undertaking in recent months. TheSons of Anarchystar first mentioned season two ofThe Mysterious Benedict Societybefore stating that he has finished “the last little tiny bit” of work asThor inGod of War Ragnarok. Hurst also details his experience doing motion capture work as Thor, suggesting that his sessions at Santa Monica Studios are also complete. Later in the interview, the actor dives into how he landed the role of the Aesir god, explaining that “two creators” went to his house and stayed for five hours, detailing the character and story in what Hurst describes as a “super complex” and “rich tapestry.”

In the comments section of the video above, uploader Steven Alvarez clarifies that Hurst’s last bit of work was for voiceover pick-ups and additional lines, which suggests that the game is in the stage of receiving further polish. While there exists very little to confirm thatGod of War Ragnarokis releasing this year, having such a significant character like Thor be mostly complete could indicate that there may be something to show soon enough.

Recent news from sources outside of Santa Monica Studios may also indicate thatRagnarokis coming this year. Last month,God of War Ragnarokreceived an official ratingfrom South Korea’s rating board, granting the game an M rating. Meanwhile, notable industry insider, Jason Schreier, has remained firm in his stance thatRagnarokwill not be delayed into 2023. As the video game industry launches its season of reveals and showcases, there is a good chance that players will seeGod of War Ragnarokonce again and with an official release date.
