Current-gen gaming has been tremendously exciting thus far, with exemplary titles such asDemon’s Souls,Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, andReturnalto bolster it. This far into this console generation, however, there are still many games that are being released for both previous-gen and current-gen.Gotham Knightsdecided to forgo its original plan for a previous-gen release, and while it is potentially great that the game will now be exclusive to current-gen, its PC version may be even more exciting.
Not every game will necessarily be hindered if it releases on previous-gen consoles, but it could potentially lack the quality a current-gen exclusive will have. That said, some fans have already expressed their disappointment with regard to howGotham Knightslooks as a current-gen exclusive. These concerns have been quelled more or less since. However, thanks toGotham Knight’s recently revealed PC features, fans may be giving themselves the best experience possible by not playing on console after all.

Gotham Knights is Considered Lacking on Current-Gen Consoles
Gotham Knights’ visualswere given leeway in its initial gameplay reveals due to the idea that it would be releasing on last-gen consoles. When it was announced that it would be abandoning PS4 and Xbox One and sticking exclusively to PS5 and Xbox Series X, the bar for what fans expect from it was understandably raised.
Early comparisons were made betweenGotham KnightsandBatman: Arkham Knight, with fans stating that the latter had richer detail and better lighting in its open-world Gotham City. To be fair, recent trailers have portrayedGotham Knightswith much more fidelity in its graphics and visuals. However, as of right now, it seems like there is still no clear advantage to playingGotham Knightson console rather than PC.

IfGotham Knightshad a console-exclusive bonus incentive such asHogwarts Legacy’s PlayStation-exclusive Hogsmeade quest, for example, then it would be a different question altogether. There are rare instances where current-gen console games will perform better than PC versions, butGotham Knightsleaning on PC features lends credence to the idea that WB Games Montreal is confident thatGotham Knightswill perform well on PC. Otherwise, its push for PC could be in response to fans’ backlash overGotham Knights’ perceived issues on console. But if fans are able to, the PC port should be strongly considered instead for its obvious advantages.
Gotham Knights’ PC Port Features Give It an Edge Over Console
PC-exclusive features inGotham Knightsseem to make it the definitive experience. Depending on the rigs fans are working with,Gotham Knightswill be capable of reaching a 4K resolution with ultra-high frame rates, ray-traced reflections, Nvidia’s DLSS support, and an Intel upscaling feature among other customization options.
Moreover, the game’s PC-centric trailer revealed an in-game menu of options players will be able to toy around with, introducing quality and performance settings that may only be available on PC, but could likely be part of its console settings as well. Of course, some fans’ PCs may not be high-end enough to run some of its more niche features, such as itsultrawide monitor support, seen in games likeElden Ring.
Further, it is unknown whatGotham Knights’ minimum and recommended PC specs are at the moment, but it may have high-end requirements to run well if its features are any indication of what it can achieve. It has also yet to be seen whether playing on console or PC reaps more bugs, which may be an inevitable metric used to determine which experience is better at launch. Until then, fans who can afford a high-end PC may be receiving the most tailored experience inGotham Knights.
Gotham Knightsis scheduled to release on June 16, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
